SQL Database Developer / Administrator (SQL DBA) - Remote | Connecticut CJIS
Duration: Apr 6, 2026 - Apr 5, 2027
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM EST
Location: Remote (occasional in-person meetings in Connecticut if required)
Project Overview
The Connecticut Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS-CT) is expanding its CISS Analytics platform, designed to improve data sharing and analytics across criminal justice agencies. The system supports policy and legislative decisions related to crime and public safety.
CJIS is seeking a SQL Database Developer/Administrator to support database development, performance optimization, and data transformation efforts while collaborating with business teams, infrastructure teams, and analytics stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and review database schemas for application releases
  • Perform database maintenance (index rebuilds, table reorganization)
  • Support day-to-day database operations and troubleshooting
  • Optimize database performance and query efficiency
  • Assist with database upgrades and migration strategies
  • Administer multiple SQL Server databases across environments
  • Develop views, stored procedures, triggers, and functions
  • Work with Microsoft BI stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)
  • Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI
  • Support ETL processes and data transformation
  • Participate in unit testing and assist with system/UAT testing
  • Ensure compliance with CJIS architecture standards including JRA, NIEM, NCSC, and GFIPM
Required Skills
  • 5+ years experience with:
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022 (Development & Administration)
    • SSRS, SSIS, SSAS
    • ETL processes
    • Power BI dashboards
    • Writing Views, Triggers, Stored Procedures, Functions
    • Database performance tuning (indexes, constraints, keys)
    • Windows Server 2019/2022
    • PowerShell or Windows shell scripting
