Position Overview

The Sports Retail Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service while supporting daily retail operations at Layton Sports Cards. This role is customer-facing and hands-on, assisting guests with buying, selling, and trading sports cards and collectibles, maintaining store organization, and supporting product flow and events. The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about sports and collectibles.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Greet customers and provide a welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional experience

  • Assist customers with purchasing sports cards, sealed products, supplies, and accessories

  • Support buying, selling, and trading interactions under management guidance

  • Answer basic product and hobby-related questions or escalate as needed

  • Support high-volume sales periods, product releases, and promotions

Product & Store Support

  • Stock shelves, organize displays, and maintain visual presentation standards

  • Assist with restocking, product intake, and basic inventory organization

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and back-of-house areas

  • Handle products carefully, including high-value cards and sealed items

Operations & Team Support

  • Process POS transactions accurately (cash, credit, debit)

  • Follow company policies, procedures, and operational standards

  • Assist with store events, live breaks, or special initiatives as assigned

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations


Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment

  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented

  • Willingness to learn about sports cards, products, and store systems

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–30 lbs

  • Weekend and evening availability required

  • Must pass a background check

Preferred:

  • Retail or customer service experience

  • Familiarity with sports, trading cards, or collectibles

  • Experience using POS systems
