Who You Are
Are you an experienced Senior Category Manager looking to shape the strategy and growth of one of eBay's most dynamic and enthusiast-driven businesses?
The eBay Collectibles Team is looking for a Senior Category Manager, Sports Trading Cards to define category strategy, work closely with our top sellers and partners, and deliver GMB and profit goals. In this role, you will work externally with sellers, brands, and industry stakeholders, and internally with Product, Marketing, Finance, Analytics, Customer Service, and Business Development teams to drive meaningful business impact.
You will play a critical role in growing selection, improving buyer and seller trust, enhancing the customer experience, and building scalable mechanisms that support both large strategic accounts and the broader B2C and C2C seller ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to help shape one of eBay's most important categories by combining marketplace strategy, seller leadership, cross-functional execution, and deep customer understanding.
The Opportunity
The eBay Collectibles team is seeking a dynamic Senior Category Manager to lead and grow our Sports Trading Cards business. This role presents an exciting opportunity to influence one of the most passionate, visible, and high-impact segments of eBay's marketplace. You will help define and execute the category's strategic priorities, identify opportunities to accelerate growth, and partner across the organization to bring new ideas and capabilities to market.
The Impact You Will Make Here
Category Strategy
Develop and execute the annual operating plan for the Sports Trading Cards category, using market insights, customer behavior, and industry trends to drive growth, improve competitive positioning, and expand eBay's leadership in the space.
Seller Performance
Build strong relationships with top sellers and strategic partners, helping them understand the key drivers of performance on eBay and supporting them in executing against growth opportunities, operational improvements, and business plans.
Grow Selection
Identify key inventory opportunities across sports trading cards and adjacent categories, partner with sellers to unlock high-priority selection, and work with Business Development to onboard new sellers, brands, and supply sources that strengthen the marketplace.
Business Reporting
Analyze category performance and partner with Analytics to develop reporting that surfaces key headwinds, tailwinds, and business drivers. Track and communicate critical metrics including conversion, ASP, GMV, listings growth, buyer and seller growth, trust metrics, and customer satisfaction on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
Improve Buyer and Seller Trust
Lead initiatives that improve trust across the marketplace, helping buyers and sellers feel more confident transacting on eBay. Partner cross-functionally to identify root causes, prioritize solutions, and improve the overall health of the category.
Improve the Customer Experience
Work with consumer insights, sellers, and buyers to identify pain points across the end-to-end collecting journey. Translate those insights into clear recommendations and partner with Product and Customer Service teams to drive meaningful improvements.
Site Merchandising and Retail Moments
Help define key moments across the trading card calendar, including hobby releases, tentpole events, and seasonal opportunities, partnering with merchandising and marketing teams to increase visibility, relevance, and GMV growth across homepage and category experiences.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Lead projects that require close collaboration across Product, Marketing, Finance, Analytics, Customer Service, and Business Development. Influence priorities, align stakeholders, and drive execution against initiatives that improve selection, trust, growth, and customer experience.
What You Bring to the Team
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in an online retail, marketplace, ecommerce, or merchandising environment
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Strong experience using data and insights to identify opportunities, assess performance, and influence strategy
  • Significant experience working cross-functionally with teams such as Product Management, Marketing, Finance, Analytics, and Customer Service
  • Experience influencing and negotiating with external partners, sellers, and stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Executive-level presentation and communication skills, including the ability to clearly and convincingly articulate complex concepts
