Want a seat at our table? The Senior SDET is a hands-on technical leader who improves software quality, testability, reliability, and delivery speed across Ziosk products and engineering teams. The ideal candidate is strong in code, automation, debugging, and system-level thinking, while also able to validate features directly, investigate defects, assess risk, and help their team better test and validate their changes. This is a role focused on engineering quality.
The Main Course - Responsibilities
Software Engineering & Automation
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing solutions across UI, API, integration, backend, and end-to-end workflows.
  • Write automated tests for their team's features, services, and workflows to improve coverage, confidence, and release readiness.
  • Create reusable automation frameworks, utilities, libraries, and engineering patterns that improve testability and reliability.
  • Integrate automated testing into Azure DevOps pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and release processes.
  • Build tools that improve diagnostics, observability, root-cause analysis, and release confidence.
  • Influence architecture, design, and implementation decisions to improve maintainability and reduce risk.

Testing & Release Readiness
  • Perform exploratory, functional, integration, and end-to-end testing where it provides the greatest value.
  • Validate complex workflows across Android applications, APIs, web, cloud services, integrations, payment systems, and backend platforms.
  • Investigate defects, analyze failures, identify coverage gaps, and support production incident reviews.
  • Apply risk-based testing to focus effort on areas with the highest customer, business, or technical impact.
  • Provide release readiness recommendations based on automation results, testing outcomes, risk assessments, and system health indicators.

AI-Accelerated Engineering
  • Use AI assistants, agents, and automation tools as a standard part of daily engineering work.
  • Leverage AI to accelerate test planning, test creation, code generation, debugging, analysis, and reporting.
  • Create reusable prompts, workflows, agents, and accelerators that improve engineering productivity.
  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and apply them where they improve effectiveness, while validating AI-generated output with strong engineering judgment.

Cross-Functional Delivery
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Owners, IT, Solutions Engineering, and Quality Engineering throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery speed, test maturity, and software reliability.

What You Bring To The Table - Qualifications
Required
  • 7+ years of experience in Software Development, SDET, Test Automation, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Strong development skills in Java, Kotlin, C#, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience automating UI, API, integration, backend, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience with Playwright, Appium, API testing tools, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, integrations, and cloud-connected applications.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development practices.
  • Experience testing mobile, web, backend, or cloud-connected applications.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and effectiveness.

Preferred
  • Experience testing Android applications, device-integrated software, POS, payments, or transaction-heavy systems.
