Job Summary

The Senior Software Test Engineer helps build quality into the Autonomy Services Platform by creating scalable automation for mission, task, command, state, and integration services. This is an opportunity to shape how modern microservices and APIs are validated, use AI-assisted coding platforms to accelerate automation, and improve the reliability of software that supports intelligent machines and autonomous operations at global scale.

What You Will Do
  • Design and build automated test frameworks for Java/Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, event-driven services, databases, and distributed workflows.
  • Create API, contract, component, integration, end-to-end, regression, performance, resilience, and failure-recovery tests for autonomy platform services.
  • Use AI-assisted coding tools and software engineering agents to accelerate test generation, test-data creation, mocks, stubs, failure analysis, refactoring, and documentation.
  • Review and validate AI-generated test code for correctness, security, maintainability, coverage, and alignment with engineering standards.
  • Validate asynchronous processing, state transitions, retries, timeouts, duplicate requests, message ordering, idempotency, backpressure, and partial-failure recovery.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and define quality metrics, release-readiness criteria, and actionable feedback for engineering teams.
  • Partner with developers, architects, product teams, and mission teams to translate requirements and service contracts into executable tests and mentor others in test-first engineering practices.
What You Will Have
  • Software Product Testing: Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software quality and adherence to stated requirements.
  • System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan, and execute system-testing strategies across all stages of the system lifecycle.
  • Software Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to build maintainable test frameworks, utilities, and production-quality automation code.
  • Software Integration Engineering: Knowledge of integration processes and functions; ability to validate APIs, events, data contracts, interfaces, and dependencies across distributed systems.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of decision-making tools and techniques; ability to analyze risks, identify failure modes, prioritize coverage, and make informed quality and release-readiness decisions.
Consideration for Top Candidates
  • Strong hands-on experience building software test automation for backend microservices, REST APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native applications.
  • Experience testing Java 17+ and Spring Boot services using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, WireMock, REST Assured, Cucumber, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Kafka or similar messaging platforms, and automated test-environment or test-data setup.
  • Practical experience building automation with AI-assisted coding platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent tools, including structured context, verification criteria, human review, and responsible AI controls.
  • Strong understanding of API contracts, state management, asynchronous processing, retries, idempotency, observability, resiliency, performance, and security testing.
  • Experience creating reusable mocks, stubs, simulators, service virtualization, and integration-test harnesses for systems with unavailable or evolving dependencies.
  • Experience with autonomy, robotics, machine integration, industrial systems, simulation-based testing, Software-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop, or Python-based test tooling is preferred.
  • A self-driven, ownership-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, defect prevention, and building quality into the engineering process.
