We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Scientific Information Systems Specialist/Systems Expert to join our team!

Responsibilities:
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Responsible for software development life-cycle management including project reporting, and overall task management, assuring that team members provide the proper services and complete the deliverables in an acceptable and timely manner.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Can serve as task leader on a project team for software development projects, and as an official day-to-day point of contact.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Familiarity with description logic software tools, terminology editing tools and processes and Web Ontology Language (OWL) are desirable in addition to project management expertise.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Familiarity with other standard terminologies such as LOINC, ICD9, ICD10, ICD-O, Gene Ontology, SNOMED, and others is desired.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Additionally, the skills for configuring, managing and updating MEME software and prior experience with running and managing a MEME production cycle is very important, as this is the production software in use for NCI Metathesaurus.ย 
Development Responsibilities

ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Design, code, test and implement software applications to meet both functional and technical requirements.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Ability to work on full stack Java Development, including frontend and back-end components.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Research and resolve security vulnerabilities detected within Java applications.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Analyze high-level requirements and produce functional requirements.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Experience in developing web applications with various open-source frameworks including Spring Framework.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Working knowledge of git/Github and the 24 Jenkins build environment.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Knowledge of the Linux command line and tools. Fluency in SPARQL and Triplestore technologies.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Working knowledge of developing in a Cloud based Web Application Architecture.
Qualifications:
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย A BA or BS in computer science or related area: information systems, engineering, business, or other related scientific or technical discipline, and at least ten (10) years of experience.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Possesses in-depth knowledge of principles, concepts, and techniques appropriate for engineering support relating to application design and implementation.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Interprets requirements, performs highly complex analysis and resolve complex problems.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Act as an advisor to customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.ย 
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  ย Participates in defining scope and objectives on software development projects.
