Job description

RK&K is hiring a Senior Roadway Inspector to join our CEI team in the Chipley, Florida area. This position is in our Construction Management group which oversees Contractors on roadway construction projects.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations
  • Assist the Project Administrator in daily roadway inspection
  • Ensure contractor compliance alongside quality control
  • Perform inspections and testing as required
  • Testing and inspections include but are not limited to earthwork, asphalt, concrete, bridge structures, lighting, pavement markings, signing and signalization, and other roadway safety components. Provides general management, supervision and instruction for the CEI Inspectors
  • Work is performed under the general supervision of the Project Administrator

Required Skills and Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience in roadway or bridge construction inspection, two (2) years of which shall have been in roadway construction inspection
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges)
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I and Level II
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I and Level II
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
  • CTQP Final Estimates I

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Previous FDOT roadway and/or bridge construction inspection experience
  • Critical Structures Construction Issues certification
  • FDOT Self Study Computer Based Training course completion
  • Supervised two or more inspectors and directly responsible for all inspection requirements related to the construction operations assigned

Physical Demands:
This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
