Job description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Project Risk Lead to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.

Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and execute the Program Risk Management Plan across multiple task areas; maintain the integrated Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) register.
  • Conduct structured risk assessments for proposals, program changes, acquisitions, policy updates, and modernization initiatives to evaluate impacts on mission execution, cost, schedule, and governance.
  • Facilitate recurring Risk Review Boards with senior stakeholders; establish escalation criteria, decision frameworks, and mitigation strategies aligned with program and portfolio management practices.
  • Coordinate active risk mitigation: validate findings, assign owners, develop POA&Ms, and track corrective actions with program managers, technical leads, cybersecurity teams, and strategic planners.
  • Monitor crosstask dependencies to identify systemic and cascading risks in geographically distributed and multidomain environments.
  • Produce executivelevel risk reports, impact assessments, COAs/ROMs, and mitigation status updates to inform leadership decisionmaking and sustain mission readiness.
  • Integrate statutory, regulatory, and policy risk factors into strategic planning and modernization analyses.
  • Implement risk analytics, trending, and earlywarning indicators; incorporate risk data into program dashboards and IMS/EAC impacts.
  • Support audits and governance reviews by maintaining risk documentation, evidence, and analytic artifacts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:

    • Bachelor's degree (BS) in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology); OR
    • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (examples: CISM; GSLC; ISP (Industrial Security Professional)).
  • Required experience and skills:

    • Progressive risk management, program controls, or PMO experience with at least 5+ years leading program/enterprise risk in DoD or large technical programs.
    • Demonstrated expertise in structured risk assessment methodologies, RIO register management, scenario analysis, and mitigation planning.
    • Experience facilitating governance boards, driving crossfunctional remediation, and producing decisiongrade risk artifacts (impact analyses, COAs, ROMs).
    • Familiarity with RMF/ATO, cybersecurity risk integration, supplychain risk considerations, and program financial/schedule impacts.
    • Strong analytic, visualization, and executive briefing skills; proficiency with risk/tools/dashboarding (Power BI, Archer, or equivalent).
  • Desired:

    • Prior DoD/ARNG program risk or PMO experience and familiarity with EVM/IMS integration.
    • Experience with risk automation tools, scenario modeling, and integration of risk impacts into EAC and portfolio decision processes.

Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
