Applications Engineer - Senior
Job Description:
As a Senior ApplicationsEngineer at MACOM Technology Solutions, you will be a key team member of the RF/microwaveDiode Product Line responsible for providing advanced technical support,application guidance, and design expertise to customers integrating our diodeproducts into RF and microwave systems for defense, aerospace,telecommunications, and industrial applications. Products supported include RF PINdiodes, Schottky diodes, varactors and limiter diodes across multipletechnologies. The Diode product line also designs and supports hybrid and integratedcomponents including switches, limiters, attenuators and phase shifters.
The engineer in thisposition will act as a key technical interface between external customers'design engineers, MACOM's internal product management, field sales, designengineering, wafer fab engineering and marketing communications teams.
Duties includeassisting customers in the selection of and circuit design utilizing MACOMdiode products, identification and definition of new products, special characterizationof products from the diverse portfolio of RF & microwave semiconductorproducts, generation of collateral materials such as application notes, deviceand circuit models and data sheets to enhance customers' understanding of howto attain optimal performance using MACOM diode products.
The successfulcandidate's educational background should include semiconductor theory as wellas electronics engineering or physics principles.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Directly support external customers via conference calls, written communications, webinars, etc.
  • Domestic and international travel is required as needed for customer support and field activities.
  • Create presentations, data packages, and other technical documentation to help customers.
  • Conduct training sessions and technical presentations for internal teams.
  • Specialized characterization of products upon internal or external customer request including high power RF measurements for limiters and switches.
  • Provide detailed application guidance on diode selection, biasing, thermal management, and integration into RF circuits.
  • Design and build supporting hardware for MACOM products such as evaluation boards, reference designs, and application circuits.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to influence product development based on customer requirements and market trends.
  • Support new product introductions and assist with prototype evaluations and performance validation.
  • Generation of comprehensive application notes and product data sheets.
  • Support the marketing communications team for MACOM's web site content.
  • Mentor and lead junior members of the Applications Engineering team.
  • Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and competitive products.

Qualifications / Skills:
  • A BSEE or similar degree and 5 years of experience in a related position are required.
  • A MSEE degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficient in RF laboratory equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Strong understanding of PIN, Schottky, varactor, and limiter diode characteristics and applications.
  • Familiarity with the theory of operation of radar systems, terrestrial communications systems, satellite communications systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and effectively troubleshoot customers' designs.
  • Familiarity with principles of semiconductor reliability and failure analysis.

The Salary Range for this position is $83,790 - $136,710. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates' experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
This position is eligible to receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM's discretion, subject to individual and company performance.
