A leading national General Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior General Superintendent to join their growing Richmond, Virginia team. With approximately $10 billion in annual revenue, a $15 billion backlog, and 3,300 employees across more than 45 offices worldwide, the company has an exceptional reputation for delivering complex, high-value construction projects. The Virginia operation has a strong pipeline of work, particularly across the healthcare and municipal sectors, with projects typically ranging from $100 million to $300 million. About the Role

As Senior General Superintendent, you will provide senior-level oversight across major commercial construction projects, leading field operations and managing multiple General Superintendents and Superintendent teams. You will typically oversee two large projects simultaneously, although projects valued at $300M+ would generally receive your sole focus. You will have approximately 4 General Superintendents reporting directly to you, with their Superintendent teams reporting through them. Overall, you will provide leadership and oversight across approximately 20–30 Superintendents.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Providing senior leadership and oversight of field operations across major commercial projects
  • Overseeing approximately 2 large-scale projects at any one time
  • Taking sole oversight of projects valued at $300M+
  • Leading and developing approximately 4 General Superintendents
  • Providing strategic oversight across a wider team of approximately 20–30 Superintendents
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards
  • Overseeing site logistics, sequencing, scheduling, manpower, and construction operation
  • Coordinating with Project Managers, clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractor
  • Monitoring project progress and resolving complex field issues
  • Establishing and maintaining strong safety and quality standards across projects
  • Mentoring and developing field leadership teams
  • Supporting preconstruction and project planning where required
  • Reporting project status, risks, and performance to senior leadership
About the Requirements
  • 15+ years of commercial construction experience with a General Contractor
  • Proven experience leading large-scale commercial construction projects
  • Experience serving as the lead Superintendent on $70M+ projects
  • Strong leadership experience managing General Superintendents and Superintendent teams
  • Healthcare and/or municipal construction experience highly preferred
  • Candidates from other commercial sectors will be considered with strong large-project experience
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, scheduling, safety, quality, and project delivery
  • Proven ability to manage multiple major projects and large field teams
  • Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
  • Demonstrated career stability with a strong track record of tenure
