Job description

Senior Loan Analyst

The Senior Loan Analyst is an experienced individual contributor who independently manages a portfolio of loans with varying complexity. This role resolves the majority of issues without escalation, applies judgment to interpret and implement guidelines in non-standard situations, and proactively engages with stakeholders to drive timely and compliant outcomes. The Senior Loan Analyst also supports team effectiveness by providing informal mentorship and identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage and review a portfolio of loans with varying complexity, including Real Estate, Commercial, and SBA loans, analyzing annual insurance renewal documents.
  • Exercise professional judgment to independently resolve the majority of issues within assigned portfolios, escalating high-risk, complex, or non-routine situations as needed.
  • Evaluate insurance policies for compliance with loan documents, servicing agreements, and investor guidelines, interpreting requirements and applying them to non-standard scenarios.
  • Identify insurance deficiencies and proactively resolve issues directly with insurance agents, borrowers, and internal stakeholders, escalating only high-risk or exceptional matters.
  • Monitor cancellation notices and take independent action to ensure continuous insurance coverage is maintained across the portfolio.
  • Review insurance documentation for new loan originations and resolve compliance issues prior to closing, coordinating with relevant stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete insurance data within McCracken and other internal systems, ensuring data integrity across assigned portfolios.
  • Support audits, loan sales, and special projects, independently handling assigned components and contributing insights.
  • Participate in cross-training and departmental initiatives to strengthen team capability and coverage.
  • Identify, recommend, and help implement workflow and process improvements based on day-to-day observations.
  • Complete all required compliance and cybersecurity training.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4–6 years of experience in property and casualty insurance, preferably within a lending or financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting commercial real estate loans or related assets, with a solid understanding of loan structures and insurance requirements.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and handle a portfolio of varying complexity.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret guidelines and apply sound judgment in resolving issues.
  • Proficiency using loan servicing systems (e.g., McCracken/Strategy) to manage insurance data, track compliance, and support portfolio-level activities is expected.
  • Demonstrates ownership of moderately complex issues, resolves escalations effectively, works proactively, and supports team members through mentoring and guidance.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred, particularly in Business, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, Real Estate, or a related field.

Licenses/Certifications:

Relevant coursework, training, or progress toward professional designations in the following areas is preferred:

  • Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) or Real Estate Finance programs
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and/or National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) flood insurance training
