DESCRIPTION
About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Sales Tax Associate to join our accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing state and local sales tax compliance, preparing and filing returns, and supporting clients with a wide range of tax-related projects. This position requires strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with both internal teams and external clients.
The ideal candidate is a proactive and dependable accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You should be comfortable balancing multiple assignments, reviewing the work of junior team members, and providing high-quality client service while ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file state and local sales tax returns accurately and on time.
  • Navigate state tax portals to complete filings, registrations, and research.
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships through clear communication and proactive support.
  • Review returns prepared by Staff Accountants, providing feedback and ensuring accuracy.
  • Review reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with new state tax registrations, voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs), and audit defense.
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc assignments as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2-5 years of sales tax experience
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage time
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and take full ownership of tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a professional team.
