Job Description:

ABC News Washington is looking for a Senior Reporter to join our Washington reporting team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned journalist with excellent reporting and writing skills with fluency in reporting/writing about international affairs, national securityand intelligence,and politics; with the ability to manage and file breaking news stories in a fast-paced news environment with excellent editorial judgement and experience in field producing. This is an in-office role 5 days a week. The candidateshould be willing to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends. The ability to travel on short notice is expected.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Reporter will work closely across all Washington reporting units. This position requires a mix of skills including strong reporting, ability to develop sources, televisionproductionand news script writing. Candidates must have superior news judgment and ability to find primary sources to produce daily story assignments, breaking news events, and long-term enterprise reporting. Significant White House, Congressional,politicaland/or investigative reporting experience is highly desirable. At leastseven years of journalismexperience in a high-pacednews environment is preferred.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum ofsevenyears'experience reporting/producing in the news industry
  • Must have strong editorial and storytelling skills
  • Must have strong writing/scripting skills
  • Experience coveringnational security, intelligence issues, and/or politics
  • Strong communicationskills, both verbal and writtenand the ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling developing news situations
  • Passion for news/politics and the abilityto pitch and provide dynamic ideas for all ABC News platforms
  • Writing and reporting experience producing video content
  • Field producing experience ishighly desirable
  • Experience booking interviews and working under tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broadcast journalism experience
The hiring range for this position in Washington, D.C. is $185,500 to $248,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
