Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Peloton is seeking a Senior User Researcher with a strong foundation in hardware research to support the innovation, iteration, and optimization of our Bike, Tread, and Row products, as well as the development of future Peloton products and experiences. While hardware will be the primary focus of this role, this researcher will also bring experience in software and digital experiences - helping us understand how the physical and digital come together to shape the holistic Peloton Member journey. This Senior User Researcher will work directly with Product Managers, Industrial Designers, Mechanical Engineers, Field Testing Program Managers, Data Scientists, and Product Designers, and will report to the Director, User Research.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Continually evolve our process for organizing user research and testing across multiple product teams, ensuring appropriate prioritization of projects, and crafting and managing short and long term research roadmaps and plans.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Industrial Designers, Engineers, and Field Testing Program Managers to identify hardware user research goals based on ambiguous problem statements, and then scope, plan, and execute research to address those goals.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Product designers, Data Scientists, and Engineers to scope, plan, and execute software research, as needed.
  • Partner with research operations to source participants for user testing, and handle logistics and schedules around live, in-person or remote testing.
  • Conduct user research for hardware and software, and the interaction between the two.
  • Conduct user research on design mockups, prototypes, beta versions, and finished products and features supplied by the Product teams.
  • Compile and present findings to the relevant partners in a clear and concrete way, that enables stakeholders to make strategic product decisions and design product improvements.
  • Evolve Peloton's existing user experience research infrastructure to ensure conducting  in-office, virtual, and in-field user testing is seamless, efficient, and easy to analyze and report on.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research using a range of tools and approaches (e.g. interviews, ethnography, surveys) to answer user research questions and produce new insights.
  • Help to formulate research documentation to better understand Peloton-specific user behavior.
  • Document and track findings gathered through testing and research so insights can easily be referenced and applied for future projects.

WHAT YOU BRING TO PELOTON

  • 5+ years of user research and testing experience, including experience working across both hardware and software product teams.
  • Experience conducting research across both physical product development and software/digital experiences - with a strong foundation in hardware, human factors, or physical product development.
  • Experience analyzing research findings and reporting concise and concrete insights and recommendations.
  • Experience developing processes to organize work across multiple people and teams.
  • Experience with remote and in-person user research methodologies.
  • Comfortable incorporating AI tools into research workflows to support efficiency and productivity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills.
  • Self-starter; ability to act autonomously.
  • Constant attention to detail.
  • Can provide work samples focused on User Research and Testing.
  • Bonus Qualifications
    • Degree or equivalent experience in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Anthropometry, or a related physical/embodied discipline.
    • Experience researching software products, digital interfaces, or content experiences.
    • Experience writing, fielding, and analyzing quantitative surveys.
