Job description

Job Title: Senior Identity & Access Management (IAM) Consultant
Location: Remote
Engagement Type: Contract / Consultant
Duration: 3-6 months (start asap)
About the Role:
We are seeking a senior IAM consultant with deep expertise in Microsoft Entra/Active Directory and Okta, who can operate independently while collaborating closely with the team. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and a skilled executor—comfortable driving technical discovery, workflow design, integration, and implementation across a complex identity environment.
You’ll play a central role in revamping our identity lifecycle processes, optimizing onboarding/offboarding workflows, leading application onboarding and entitlement projects, and contributing to our broader IGA and automation goals.
 
Key Responsibilities:1. Discovery, Analysis & Design
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to capture and clarify business requirements for identity processes, integrations, and security needs.
  • Evaluate and document current-state IAM workflows, tooling, and process gaps—particularly in onboarding, offboarding, entitlement reviews, and policy enforcement.
  • Develop future-state designs with clear technical specifications, risk assessments, and implementation plans.
  • Support IAM roadmap development and influence long-term strategy and prioritization.
2. Application Onboarding & SSO Integration
  • Lead application onboarding projects, ensuring timely and secure integration with Okta and/or Microsoft Entra.
  • Deliver SSO integrations using SAML, OIDC, and OAuth2 standards, collaborating with application owners and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain documentation, templates, and best practices to scale onboarding and integration efforts.
3. Entitlement Management & IGA
  • Define, rationalize, and manage entitlement models across key applications—ensuring least privilege and alignment with business roles.
  • Participate in access review and certification processes, helping implement scalable governance controls.
  • Support or lead IGA-related initiatives and tool evaluations, driving toward automation and risk reduction.
4. Workflow Automation & Implementation
  • Design and implement automated workflows for user provisioning, deprovisioning, role assignment, and approval chains.
  • Use tools like Okta Workflows, PowerShell, or other automation frameworks to build scalable solutions.
  • Ensure proper handoff and documentation for sustainable operations and audit readiness.
5. Operational Support & Problem Resolution
  • Triage and resolve complex IAM issues, including provisioning failures, access delays, or policy misconfigurations.
  • Provide L3 support for IAM-related tickets while contributing to long-term root cause elimination.
  • Guide junior engineers or stakeholders on IAM best practices and implementation standards when needed.
6. Communication, Risk Management & Collaboration
  • Clearly communicate status, risks, and blockers to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Identify issues early, document mitigation plans, and align with Security and IT governance teams where necessary.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with security, HRIS, support, engineering, and application teams to ensure aligned execution.
 
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years in enterprise IT with 5+ years in IAM, including design and implementation experience.
  • Hands-on expertise in Okta and Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory (on-prem and hybrid scenarios).
  • Strong knowledge of SSO technologies (SAML, OIDC, OAuth2), lifecycle management, and directory services.
  • Experience implementing and managing RBAC/ABAC, access reviews, and entitlement frameworks.
  • Familiarity with IGA platforms (e.g., SailPoint, Saviynt, or Okta OIG) and how to integrate or support their operation.
  • Proficiency with automation (e.g., Okta Workflows, PowerShell, APIs, scripting).
  • Solid experience with ITSM tools like ServiceNow or Jira, especially related to access request workflows.
