Overview
We are seeking a Senior RAN Design & Optimization Engineer with deep expertise in 5G/LTE network design, tuning, and optimization. This role requires a highly experienced professional capable of leading large-scale wireless projects and delivering high-performance network solutions across major markets.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning
Perform radio network design using tools such as Atoll and Planet EV
Develop and optimize link budgets, site location plans, tilt/azimuth adjustments
Create and manage new projects in planning tools
Utilize ACP (Automatic Cell Planning) tools
Conduct Monte Carlo analysis and model tuning
Recommend improvements to network design and cell plans
Optimization & Tuning
Analyze network performance and implement optimization strategies
Work with tools such as TEMS, Actix, Agilent, and Rohde & Schwarz
Interpret and analyze drive test data and performance KPIs
Optimize accessibility, retainability, and handover success rates
Perform 5G and LTE optimization, including enhanced uplink tuning
Implement parameter changes and feature activations to improve performance
Understand and optimize IRAT procedures and traffic behavior
Analysis & Performance
Analyze Layer 3 messaging for LTE and 5G
Evaluate network KPIs and recommend improvements
Understand impact of carrier additions and traffic load on performance
Perform event analysis and troubleshoot complex issues
Leadership & Coordination
Lead technical efforts on large-scale projects (metro/statewide)
Coordinate across cross-functional teams, departments, and stakeholders
Communicate effectively with project managers, customers, and technical teams
Provide technical guidance and oversight
Minimum Qualifications (MUST HAVES)
10+ years of experience in RAN design/optimization
Degree in BSEE, BSCS, or equivalent practical experience
Proven leadership on 5+ projects, including:
At least 2 large-scale (metro/statewide) projects
Full ownership of technical delivery and team coordination
5G NR, LTE, Massive MIMO, mmWave, CBRS, IoT
Multi-vendor environments
Layer 3 messaging (4G/5G)
Network KPIs and performance tuning
Technical Skills
Planning Tools: Atoll, Planet EV, ACP
Optimization Tools: TEMS, Actix, Agilent, R&S
Strong understanding of:
Link budgets
Monte Carlo simulations
Traffic modeling and network capacity
Drive testing and analytics
Experience with Ericsson ENM and related optimization platforms
Additional Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Strong communication (written & verbal)
Ability to work independently and manage expectations
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to identify customer needs and develop solutions
