Job description


Position Summary
The purpose of the position is to acquire services, supplies and goods as required at a competitive price in a time efficient manner. Position is responsible for the submission of invitations to bid; review, analysis, and purchase of supplies, services, goods and equipment; review of methods of acquisition; and preparation of purchase orders and related documentation.
Position Details
  • Prepares invitations to bid and requests for proposals for quotations from vendors for products and services; submits to vendors as appropriate.
  • Researches market sources and vendors to locate and ensure most cost effective and competitive pricing for the purchase of products and services.
  • Negotiates pricing with vendors as necessary.
  • Consults with proposed/new vendors to discuss company needs, services and products and company approval procedures.
  • Provides direction to less-experienced Purchasing employees.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Purchasing or related field
  • 5+ years' purchasing experience, with minimum 3 years' in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing practices and systems
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of construction procurement
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ERP; COINs experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent ability to analyze and problem solve
