The Banner Health Strategy & Planning Department offers an exciting opportunity to partner with senior leaders across the organization to advance strategic initiatives. While there are key processes we are responsible for every year, the role is dynamic in nature and offers the ability to work on a variety of unique projects.

Oncology service line and/or strategic planning experience, data analysis skills desired. Master's Preferred.
This role is Monday -Friday 5/8's scheduled around general business hours. This role is a hybrid position and someone who resides in the Phoenix Metro (East Valley) is preferred. In this role you will work as an internal consultant largely in growth projects, strategic planning, and community health needs.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides expertise in support of Banner Health's strategic growth objectives across all operations, including: acute care operations, ambulatory services, medical group operations, insurance operations, academic operations, post-acute services, innovation / tele-health, and research. Strategic planning and development efforts include: capital planning, service line strategy, market analytics, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures and/or strategic partnerships. The position provides significant leadership to these efforts, in partnership with Banner executives to develop business cases, conduct due diligence, and prepare recommendations for approval by senior leadership.


CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Directs and manages processes relating to strategic planning and product/service development, including the development of goals, service line strategies, capital business plans, and operational plans.


2. Works with internal stakeholders and external entities to build and establish relationships with potential short and long-term partners. Manages processes related to new business ventures, including the identification of strategic partners, development of partnership objectives, evaluation of opportunities, and preparation of partnership/program business plans. Assists in the implementation of new programs, potentially including start-up, initial operations, performance tracking and ongoing post-implementation "make good" evaluation.


3. Provides strategic context-setting across the organization, including translation of system strategy to regional / entity-level operational leaders. Educates system leaders on entity-level opportunities. Acts as an organization channel for vetting and communicating recommendations and results of system initiatives and business strategies.


4. Provides strategic advisement and subject matter expertise to senior leaders across the organization. Analyzes, defines the market, and provides recommendations for growth opportunities across the care continuum using data from various quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary resources, including: market demographic and economic research, retail strategies, consumer demand studies, feasibility studies, scenario modeling, industry intelligence, operational feasibility, and risk analyses.


5. Leads and continually improves strategic planning processes and toolkits including: analytical models, financial impact assessments, operational metrics / benchmarks, and due diligence methodologies. Evaluates and improves strategic planning and product/service development processes, assumptions and outcomes on an ongoing basis.


6. Partners with senior executives and other key leaders on RFP processes, including the evaluation, creation, production, and submission of Requests for Proposals. Provides decision support, advisement, and technical expertise to leadership and management.


7. Maintains a current professional and technical knowledge relating to the market, healthcare, planning and marketing by attending educational workshops/conferences, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.


8. Provides leadership for strategic planning processes and product/service development initiatives of the operating entities across the organization. Partners with senior leadership across the corporate division and the operating entities. Functions independently and must be able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Must possess a strong knowledge of business and/or healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration or related field.


Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of healthcare planning as normally demonstrated through five years of healthcare planning and/or process management and operations experience. Requires strong logic, conceptual, analytical, quantitative, and statistical skills to analyze and define opportunities for hospital growth, as described above. Must possess strong executive presence with written, verbal, and presentation skills that enable the candidate to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization, as well as present findings and recommendations to senior and executive leaders. Must also possess strong organizational and project management skills to effectively direct and manage multiple comprehensive business plans simultaneously.


Position requires expertise in the full Microsoft Office Suite of business applications.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Master's degree preferred. Health system and/or health plan experience highly desirable.


Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
