The Opportunity

A service-driven paper and packaging products company, Atlantic Packaging has grown to become one of Canada's largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products. Our organization employs approximately 2000 people at multiple manufacturing plants and distribution centers. We are looking for a Senior Payroll Administrator for our Scarborough location.

What You’ll Do

  • Process Canadian weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legislative requirements.
  • Enter employee hours from timesheets and timecards into the Dayforce payroll system, including required cost allocations.
  • Process payroll transactions for assigned employee groups and prepare payroll transaction files for Dayforce.
  • Cross-train and provide backup support for other payrolls as required.
  • Audit and maintain Kronos timecards, investigating and correcting discrepancies.
  • Maintain employee deductions, including union dues, group insurance, and arrears management.
  • Update and reconcile payroll tracking spreadsheets with payroll registers on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare requisitions and process payments for payroll-related deductions when due.
  • Maintain rate review schedules and monitor upcoming wage increases.
  • Prepare employee wage increase documentation and distribute to managers for approval and communication.
  • Set up new hires in payroll systems and ensure all required documentation is received and processed.
  • Review and process rate changes in accordance with collective agreements and approved authorization procedures.
  • Process employee terminations, ensuring compliance with employment standards, labor legislation, and Employment Insurance requirements.
  • Verify payroll registers against source documentation, input records, timecards, supporting documentation, and batch totals to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Maintain and update payroll procedures, manuals, and process documentation.
  • Organize and maintain departmental filing systems and employee payroll records.
  • Perform additional payroll and administrative duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience administering payroll in accordance with Canadian payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • 5 years experience in a payroll position
  • Payroll Compliance Professional
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce
  • Experience with UKG Workforce Time & Attendance or similar
