Job description

Senior Producer AM

WICS-TV, Newschannel 20 in Springfield, IL has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic and dynamic AM Senior News Producer (TV & Digital) to create meaningful and creative newscasts! This position is responsible for daily production of newscasts, including gathering content, determining content for the newscasts, creating flow of the newscasts, writing for both on-air and digital platforms.

We are looking for someone with a creative vision. The ideal candidate will want to win the big story each day and own breaking news.

Duties/Responsibilities include:

*Select, research, and write content for live newscasts

*Produce and booth assigned newscasts, breaking news, and weather events

*Execute our brand in all newscasts and on all platforms

*Create and edit video content for newscasts and digital platforms

*Work closely with news managers, assignment desk, anchors, reporters/MMJs, and photographers to cover breaking news and win the big story(ies) of the day

*Ensure that story selection and placement fits newsroom standards for vision and growth

*Understand our DMA, key target audiences and where they live

*Produce engaging, accurate work

*Use a variety of content, including live and user-generated content, for storytelling

*Gather content and write for digital platforms

Qualifications:

*Strong communication, writing and leadership skills

*Solid news judgment

*Ability to multi-task and manage time well in a fast-paced environment and under deadlines

*Ability to execute news strategies and news brand

*Prior news producing experience preferred

*A college degree in journalism, broadcasting or communication preferred

*Knowledge of non-linear editing (Premiere, Avid, etc.) and newsroom systems (such as iNews) preferred


This is a salaried position. The base salary compensation range for this role is $45K-$50K. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, vacation time, and floating holidays.
