Summary:
The Sr. Procurement Specialist supports DHL eCommerce through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, spend analytics, procurement governance, supplier risk management, and category management activities. This role is responsible for identifying cost savings opportunities, optimizing supplier performance, supporting sourcing initiatives, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and internal controls, and driving continuous improvement across procurement processes.
The position partners closely with Operations, Finance, IT, HR, Legal, Tax, Accounts Payable, and suppliers to improve business outcomes, mitigate supplier risks, enhance operational efficiency, and support company financial objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
  • Support supplier sourcing activities, including supplier evaluations, proposal analysis, competitive bidding events and sourcing recommendations.
  • Support supplier negotiations, contract agreements/renewals, and commercial discussions while identifying opportunities to improve pricing, service levels, contractual terms, and overall supplier value.
  • Monitor supplier relationships, conduct supplier business reviews, monitor supplier performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, delivery, service, and cost performance.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive innovation, service excellence, and procurement objectives.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with contractual agreements and commercial terms while resolving supplier-related issues and escalation matters.
  • Procurement Operations & Governance
  • Monitor procurement requests and purchasing activities for assigned business areas while ensuring compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support IT procurement activities through supplier engagement, quote analysis, sourcing support, and procurement planning for technology-related purchases.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for SAP and Coupa while supporting procurement reporting, system optimization, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Legal, Tax, and business stakeholders to support supplier onboarding, vendor governance, issue resolution, and Procure-to-Pay process improvements.
  • Support procurement governance, internal control activities, policy compliance monitoring, and audit readiness initiatives.
  • Analytics, Savings & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and maintain procurement metrics, spend analytics, supplier scorecards, savings tracking, and executive-level procurement reporting.
  • Identify, quantify, track, and report annual cost savings, cost avoidance, and value creation initiatives across assigned spend categories.
  • Conduct spend analysis to identify sourcing opportunities, supplier consolidation opportunities, demand management improvements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support procurement improvement initiatives focused on supplier rationalization, process automation, process standardization, and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyze procurement process performance, identify root causes of inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions that improve compliance and business performance.
  • Risk Management & Business Support
  • Collaborate with operations and transportation stakeholders to assess supplier risks, support business continuity planning, and maintain mitigation strategies that ensure uninterrupted supply and service delivery.
  • Support inventory planning and supplier continuity initiatives to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Serve as the senior procurement subject matter expert and provide leadership support for procurement governance, supplier management, and category initiatives.
  • Provide procurement systems training and guidance regarding procurement policies, sourcing procedures, purchasing requirements, and best practices.
  • Provide on-site and virtual operational support during peak season and other business-critical events as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in business, supply chain, procurement, finance, operations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement sourcing, supplier management, purchasing operations, or related processes.
  • Advanced Proficient with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools, including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and dashboard development.
  • Experience with SAP/Material Management (MM) and Coupa preferred.
  • Experience supporting supplier negotiations, competitive bidding activities, contract administration, and sourcing initiatives preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate supplier performance, spend data, business requirements, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ability to support supplier negotiations and evaluate commercial proposals.

  • Ability to support multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
