Senior Process Engineer – Water Treatment Team Lead

Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Water / Wastewater Engineering


Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer – Water Treatment Team Lead to join our team in Greenville, SC.

This position will lead water treatment projects from conceptual planning through final design and bid-ready documents. The role will be responsible for process design, engineering calculations, equipment selection, vendor coordination, and coordination with internal disciplines, regional offices, and regulatory agencies.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing municipal drinking water treatment facilities and the ability to lead projects and technical teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead drinking water process evaluations, technology selections, and implementation.
  • Lead detailed design of drinking water treatment processes, including:
    • Coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation
    • Conventional and advanced filtration
    • Membrane treatment systems
    • Conventional and advanced disinfection systems
  • Perform pump selection and pump station design.
  • Design chemical storage and chemical feed systems.
  • Develop and review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Prepare technical specifications and contract documents.
  • Develop design calculations, equipment layouts, and facility layouts.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and supporting engineering disciplines.
  • Oversee the development of construction drawings and 3D models.
  • Support construction-phase activities and provide technical assistance during project execution.
  • Coordinate with regional offices, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform quality reviews of designs and deliverables prepared by other team members.
  • Lead projects from conceptual planning through bid-ready documentation.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems, Biological Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of direct design experience with municipal water plants
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment processes and facility design.
  • Experience leading engineering projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with advanced water treatment technologies, including membranes and advanced filtration.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and construction document development.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors.
