Job description

Position Overview

The Chemical Engineer supports the development, scale‑up, and manufacturing of personal care and OTC products across multiple product forms. This role is responsible for transferring formulations from R&D to production, troubleshooting process challenges, developing robust specifications, and ensuring products meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. The engineer partners closely with cross‑functional teams in the U.S. and Canada to drive successful launches and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead formulation tech transfer activities from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring processes are scalable, efficient, and compliant with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Support new product development from concept through launch, including pilot batching, scale‑up, and validation.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes for creams, lotions, waxes, non‑aerosol sprays, and aerosol products.
  • Evaluate and optimize personal care/cosmetic manufacturing equipment to ensure proper mixing, heating, cooling, filling, and packaging performance.
  • Create and maintain QC specifications, process parameters, and batch documentation.
  • Apply design of experiments (DOE) and other statistical tools to identify root causes, optimize processes, and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including R&D, Quality, Operations, Regulatory, and Supply Chain to support project timelines and technical problem‑solving.
  • Communicate and coordinate with technical counterparts in California and Canada to align on processes, equipment, and product requirements.
  • Lead or support investigations related to deviations, nonconformances, and process failures.
  • Maintain strong documentation practices, technical reporting, and project tracking.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Strong technical understanding of personal care, cosmetic, or OTC product manufacturing.
  • Hands‑on experience with formulation, batching, and process scale‑up.
  • Working knowledge of emulsions, surfactants, rheology, and aerosol systems.
  • Experience with DOE, SPC, and other process optimization tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Effective communicator with experience working on cross‑functional and multi‑site teams.
