Job description

Job Title: Senior Process Engineer
Location: Lexington, NC
Job Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire
Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 annually
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Flexible schedule required; occasional late trial runs and overtime may be needed)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (approximately 80% onsite / 20% remote depending on project needs)


Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer with strong experience in nonwoven material development and manufacturing processes. This role will support product development and sustaining activities for nonwoven materials, including Spunbond and Meltblown processes. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop customer solutions, support manufacturing trials, analyze test data, and drive process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex engineering projects and provide technical leadership with minimal supervision.
  • Support nonwoven material development, process improvements, and sustaining activities.
  • Plan and execute manufacturing trials to develop sample materials for customer evaluation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, regulatory, marketing, and product supply teams.
  • Analyze test data and prepare technical reports for internal and customer communications.
  • Develop trial plans and provide onsite support during production runs.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Support product changes, design controls, and process validation activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and interns.
  • Assist with intellectual property documentation and technical documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, healthcare professionals, and internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or related technical roles.
  • Strong experience with nonwoven manufacturing processes, including Spunbond and Meltblown materials.
  • Experience with product development, process improvement, and manufacturing support.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis tools and techniques.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing technical activities.
  • Knowledge of FDA-regulated quality systems, design controls, and process validation.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (less than 25%).

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience supporting nonwoven material sales, marketing, or customer applications.
  • Experience working with healthcare-related products or materials.
  • Experience leading manufacturing trials and process optimization initiatives.

Additional Information:
This role requires onsite presence when supporting manufacturing trials, production activities, and technical projects. Remote work is available when focused on documentation and analytical activities. Schedule flexibility is required based on business needs.
