ROLE SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for leading structural engineering projects from concept through execution, ensuring designs meet technical, safety, and quality standards. This role provides technical expertise in precast concrete, lifting and rigging, manufacturing processes, and material/mix designs. The Senior Structural Engineer also mentors and supports the engineering team while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and innovation across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and engineering of precast concrete structures and components.
  • Generate design calculations using software and hand calculations; PE stamp drawings as required.
  • Provide technical guidance on project specifications, special products, and manufacturing designs.
  • Review and verify drawings and calculations prepared by designers and project managers.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and material/mix design reviews.
  • Research and develop new products, molds, and equipment to support growth.
  • Mentor and coach Plant Engineers, QC staff, and project teams on technical solutions and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards and provide support for safety engineering designs.
  • Attend engineering meetings to provide technical expertise and guidance.

SUCCESSFUL RESULTS:

  • Achieving a turnaround time for design calculations and rebar drawings in less than 24 hours on average.
  • Providing accurate, compliant, and efficient technical solutions across projects and operations.
  • Effective mentoring and coaching of engineering and plant teams to improve performance and project outcomes.
  • Successful implementation of process improvements or new product designs that enhance production efficiency.
  • Clear communication and collaboration with project teams, ensuring milestones and goals are met.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably in precast concrete or related manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in structural engineering software and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and industry standards.
  • Experience in project management, including scheduling, resource allocation, and team coordination.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
