SJS Industrial, a veteran owned media blasting, industrial painting, powder coating, and light fabrication shop in Virginia Beach, VA, is seeking a full-time Material Handler to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Each 8-hour shift also includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
Saturday or evening shifts might happen occasionally if there is a special project with a tight deadline, but the goal is a steady and reliable Monday through Friday 40-hour work week to avoid weekend, night-time, and overtime work.
The pay for this position is $16.50/hr.SJS also offers 80 hours of PTO accrual, medical, dental, vision, and a variety of additional benefits including 7 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays.
The Material Handler must be able to walk and move quickly for a full shift with limited time spent sitting down, be able to safely push and pull wheeled racks of parts within the warehouse, and will cooperate politely with teammates. He or she might be evaluated to determine if he or she can successfully complete future forklift training. The Material Handler is expected to uphold strict safety, quality, attendance, and technical standards.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Responsible for the preparation and masking of surfaces of components prior to being coated.
  • Safely operate various small hand tools and power tools such as pneumatic sanders, electric drills, and impact wrenches to assemble, disassemble, and prepare parts.
  • Safely hang parts using appropriate methods on mobile racks in preparation for being coated.
  • Must be able to remain on one's feet in an upright position and move about on their feet during the duration of the shift. Handlers will bend, twist, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach at or above shoulder level frequently.
  • Perform clean-up duties throughout your shift as required.
  • Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management immediately.
  • Follow all written and verbal instructions.
  • Attend all safety and production training sessions.
  • Demonstrate a positive and professional working attitude.
  • Learn, understand, and obey proper grounding techniques when hanging parts to be coated.
  • Learn and understand how to correctly fill in project forms.
  • Complete other related manual labor tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
  • Current and valid Virginia's State Driver license.
  • Forklift skills a plus.
  • Must pass drug test and background check.
