Automation Engineer

Malvern, PA
I'm currently supporting a leading systems integrator on a search for an Automation Engineer to join their growing engineering team supporting projects across the Life Sciences, Food & Beverage, and Specialty Chemical industries.
This is a hands-on role focused on designing, developing, and implementing Controls, SCADA, and automation solutions within complex manufacturing environments. You'll work closely with customers and a talented engineering team to develop systems that connect PLC, SCADA, MES, and plant-floor technologies.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automation professional who enjoys solving complex controls problems, working directly with customers, and contributing throughout the full system development lifecycle from requirements and design through implementation, commissioning, and support.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and communicate customer technical requirements and translate manufacturing needs into effective automation solutions
  • Design, develop, and implement Controls, SCADA, HMI, and automation systems for manufacturing environments
  • Program and configure PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, and reporting applications
  • Participate throughout the full system development lifecycle, including design, programming, testing, commissioning, and support
  • Troubleshoot complex controls, automation, SCADA, and manufacturing system issues
  • Partner closely with customers, engineers, and project teams to deliver automation solutions and support system integration

Key Skills & Experience:
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience developing and implementing control automation systems
  • Strong experience with PLC programming, with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell experience highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA/HMI systems, with Ignition experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with MES/MOM platforms such as PAS-X, Sepasoft, Syncade, or Ignition
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and client-facing skills with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams
