Overview:


The Sr. Packaging Designer is responsible for leading the packaging design strategy, team performance, and development processes across brands. This role sets direction, ensures consistency and quality, and drives cross-functional alignment while overseeing execution and guiding the packaging team.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee and direct packaging design and development across brands, ensuring alignment with brand strategy, quality standards, and business objectives 
  • Lead market research initiatives and present insights and opportunities to leadership for approval and implementation 
  • Establish and communicate packaging design standards, processes, and updates across cross-functional teams and vendors 
  • Oversee and guide the approval process for digital and physical submits, ensuring consistency in quality, color, materials, and finishes across all brands 
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across Design, Sales, Marketing, Product Approval, and Sourcing teams to ensure strategic and operational alignment      
  • Identify and review packaging design, material, and manufacturing strategies to improve cost, efficiency, and scalability; align with leadership on implementation 
  • Oversee vendor performance and resolve complex production, quality, and approval issues 
  • Ensure packaging sample schedules are maintained, proactively addressing risks and implementing solutions to meet deadlines 
  • Drive development and execution of on-brand packaging solutions across categories, ensuring consistency and innovation 
  • Oversee packaging audits and reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality standards 
  • Own communication of process updates, priorities, and key initiatives to internal teams and external partners 
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of packaging approvals within VSN, maintain system integrity, tracking consistency, and visibility across teams and overseas offices 
  • Drive process improvements to enhance packaging development workflows, efficiency, and overall team performance 
  • Ensure all packaging meets seasonal calendar deadlines and business requirements 
  • Special projects as assigned 

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities/Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, or related field
  • 7+ years of work experience in related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint 
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator 
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills with excellent proof-reading skills with attention to detail\
  • Must be a strategic thinker, persuasive and collaborative, flexible with changes, and collaborative 
  • Brand appropriate aesthetic
