Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.
As a Senior Aftermarket Inventory Strategy Analyst, you will be responsible for partnering with Caterpillar dealers and internal stakeholders to develop and implement inventory strategies that improve service parts availability, inventory performance, and customer experience. Serving as a senior inventory management consultant and trusted advisor, you will leverage advanced analytics, business acumen, and industry expertise to identify improvement opportunities, lead complex initiatives, and deliver measurable results. This role requires the ability to influence decision-making, resolve complex inventory challenges, and translate data-driven insights into strategic recommendations that drive inventory optimization, operational excellence, and long-term business success.
Additional Information:
  • This role is located in Morton, IL or Dallas, TX and does not offer relocation.
  • This role is 1st shift, Monday - Friday.
  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules.
  • This role requires up to 10% domestic travel.

What You Will Do:
  • Serve as the primary inventory management advisor for assigned Caterpillar dealers, providing strategic guidance that improves inventory performance, customer availability, and overall business results.

  • Design and implement inventory optimization strategies that balance service level objectives, inventory investment, customer demand, and operational performance.

  • Lead complex inventory improvement initiatives from analysis through execution, driving measurable and sustainable results in inventory productivity, product availability, and customer satisfaction.

  • Analyze inventory, operational, and business performance data to identify trends, uncover root causes, and develop data-driven recommendations that influence strategic decision-making.

  • Conduct executive-level business reviews with dealers and internal stakeholders, communicating performance insights, opportunities, risks, and recommendations to audiences ranging from operational teams to senior leadership.

  • Lead the development and execution of corrective action plans to address inventory performance gaps, align stakeholders, remove barriers, and ensure successful implementation of improvement strategies.

  • Provide advanced consultation, training, and mentorship to dealers, helping them adopt inventory management best practices and maximize the value of inventory planning and analytics tools.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on inventory management processes, inventory optimization strategies, and dealer operations while supporting the development and knowledge growth of team members.

  • Lead cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives involving dealers, business partners, technical teams, and leadership to improve inventory performance and operational effectiveness.

  • Influence business decisions by translating complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations that support customer service goals, inventory investment decisions, and long-term business objectives.

  • Drive standardization and process improvements through the development of best practices, reporting enhancements, governance models, training resources, and scalable solutions.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to identify innovative opportunities, develop new ideas, and implement solutions that strengthen inventory management capabilities across multiple dealers, regions, or business units.

  • Resolve complex inventory, system, and operational challenges while providing strategic guidance and leadership in support of dealer success and continuous performance improvement.

  • Build trusted relationships with dealers and internal stakeholders, serving as a strategic partner capable of influencing outcomes through expertise, business acumen, and data-driven insights.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):
  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.

  • Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

What Will Set You Apart (Top Candidates Will Have):
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, supply chain analytics, logistics, demand planning, or a related field.

  • Proven success leading complex inventory, supply chain, or business improvement initiatives and delivering measurable results.

  • Advanced analytical skills with experience using tools such as SQL, Snowflake, SAS, Power BI, and Excel to solve business problems and influence decisions.

  • Ability to move beyond reporting by identifying root causes, validating data, and translating insights into actionable business recommendations.

  • Experience influencing customers, dealers, stakeholders, and leadership through consultative, data-driven decision-making.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to evaluate operational, financial, and customer impacts when developing strategies.

  • Experience leading cross-functional projects, driving stakeholder alignment, and delivering results without direct authority.

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to audiences ranging from operational teams and dealers to senior leaders and executives.

  • Experience mentoring others, sharing best practices, and serving as a subject matter expert within a team.

  • Proven ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and drive initiatives through implementation and sustained results.

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
