Sompo has a unique opportunity for a in our Insurance Operations team.
As a Senior Operations Analyst, Technical Lead, you will serve as the operational owner for systems testing, process design, workflow documentation, technology adoption, and business readiness initiatives. In addition to leading technical initiatives, you will maintain ownership of a targeted operational workload, ensuring technology solutions remain grounded in day-to-day business operations while providing production support during periods of increased volume. In this highly visible role, you will partner across Operations, Underwriting, Engineering Process, and IT to ensure technology solutions are successfully translated into operational outcomes that improve efficiency, scalability, and performance.

What you'll be doing:
  • Manage underwriting operations throughout the policy lifecycle, including binder reviews, policy issuance, renewal notices, and validation of technology solutions in production environments.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements, integrations, and releases by developing test plans, executing test scripts, managing defects, and ensuring business readiness and successful adoption.
  • Design, document, and optimize operational workflows, business requirements, and policy specifications while identifying automation, process improvement, and system enhancement opportunities.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for underwriting systems and processes, troubleshooting complex issues and recommending sustainable operational and technology solutions.
  • Develop training materials, documentation, and knowledge-sharing resources that drive adoption, consistency, business continuity, and team enablement.
  • Partner with Underwriting, IT, Re-Engineering, and Project Management teams to support requirements gathering, solution design, implementation, testing, workflow modernization, and communication of technical and operational impacts to stakeholders.

What you'll bring:
Required
  • 4+ years of experience in underwriting operations, insurance systems analysis, or technical operations, with strong knowledge of underwriting processes and Property & Casualty insurance.
  • Experience leading system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, and validation of technology solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), business documentation, and process analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Occasional travel to other Sompo offices for system testing and support

Preferred
  • Experience with underwriting platforms (e.g., Guidewire, ImageRight), business analysis/process improvement methodologies (Agile, Lean), and reporting or visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
