Job Description We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist / ML-NLP Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting the DCRS Inbound Correspondence function. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in machine learning, NLP, Gen AI open-source models, and software engineering and a proven ability to design, build, and maintain document capture applications and enterprise-scale ML/NLP solutions. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain ML/NLP models for document capture and processing. Build supervised and unsupervised pipelines including data cleaning, analytics, feature creation, model selection, and ensemble methods. Implement performance metrics, model evaluation, and visualization for model monitoring. Engineer scalable solutions for large structured and unstructured datasets. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate business needs into technical solutions. Apply Gen AI and open-source models where appropriate to enhance document intelligence. Leverage OCR technologies for text extraction and downstream NLP tasks. Required Skills & Qualifications: 7+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in related roles. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. Deep understanding and hands-on exposure to Gen AI open-source models. 5+ years of programming experience in software development and Agile processes. 5+ years of Python (or equivalent) for building and deploying ML/NLP models. Experience setting up supervised and unsupervised ML/NLP models, including data cleaning, analytics, feature engineering, model selection, ensemble methods, and performance visualization. Experience with ML/NLP pipelines for large structured and unstructured datasets. 2+ years designing and developing enterprise-scale ML/NLP solutions such as NER, document classification, summarization, topic modeling, dialog systems, sentiment analysis, and OCR text processing. Knowledge and hands-on experience with OCR products. Preferred Skills: Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. Experience collaborating with partners and stakeholders across multiple lines of business. Ability to navigate enterprise data assets across functions. Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills in a fast-paced environment. Analytical problem-solving with a client-focused approach. Why BCforward?
