How much do senior nutritional genomics jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 26, 2026, the average yearly pay for senior nutritional genomics in the United States is $80,287.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $41,500.00 and $103,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How does a Senior Nutritional Genomics professional typically collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance research and clinical applications?

Senior Nutritional Genomics professionals frequently work alongside dietitians, geneticists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians to integrate genetic data with nutritional strategies. They play a key role in interpreting complex genetic information and translating it into actionable dietary recommendations or research insights. Effective communication and collaboration are crucial, as they often lead project meetings, contribute to study design, and work on publishing results. This collaborative environment helps drive innovation in personalized nutrition and supports the successful implementation of genomics-driven health initiatives.

What is a Senior Nutritional Genomics Specialist?

A Senior Nutritional Genomics Specialist is an expert who studies how individual genetic differences affect responses to nutrients and diets. They analyze genetic data to provide personalized nutrition recommendations that can help prevent or manage health conditions. Their work bridges the fields of genetics, nutrition, and health science to optimize dietary plans for individuals or populations. In a senior role, they may also oversee research projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the development of new nutritional products or guidelines.

What is the difference between Senior Nutritional Genomics vs Nutritional Scientist?

AspectSenior Nutritional GenomicsNutritional Scientist
Required CredentialsAdvanced degrees (Master's/PhD), specialized training in genomics and nutritionBachelor's or Master's in nutrition, dietetics, or related field
Work EnvironmentResearch labs, academic institutions, biotech companiesHealthcare facilities, research institutions, food industry
Industry UsageFocuses on genetic factors influencing nutrition and personalized dietsGeneral nutrition research, dietary planning, public health

While both roles involve nutrition, Senior Nutritional Genomics specializes in the genetic aspects of nutrition, often requiring advanced genomics expertise. Nutritional Scientists have a broader focus on diet and health without necessarily emphasizing genetics. The senior role typically involves research and development, whereas Nutritional Scientists may work in clinical or community settings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Senior Nutritional Genomics Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Nutritional Genomics Specialist, you need advanced knowledge in genetics, nutrition science, and biostatistics, usually supported by a master's or doctoral degree in a related field. Proficiency with genomic analysis software, laboratory techniques, and familiarity with bioinformatics tools and certifications is essential. Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations set top professionals apart. These competencies are vital for interpreting genetic data accurately and developing personalized nutrition strategies that improve patient outcomes.
