Role Summary

The Senior Nutritionist delivers defined nutrition workstreams, translating nutrition science into standards, insights and guidance that support product development, portfolio management and communication. Operating under general supervision, the role applies scientific judgement, manages nutrition labelling analyses and ensures consistent application of nutrition standards in their local market. The role activates locally all materials produced by the Nutrition Centre of Excellence, including evidencebased communication initiatives, providing local support for Health Care Professional programmes and strengthening knowledge quality, governance and execution discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Impact

  • Local activation of global nutrition strategy within local markets to internal partners, healthcare professional and consumer audiences. Supporting local activation of priority nutrition areas (e.g. metabolic health, heart health, cholesterol management, plant sterols, healthy fats, plant-based and dairy nutrition and nutrient density) in alignment with the global nutrition strategy.

  • Apply scientific judgement, manage nutrition analyses and ensure consistent application of nutrition standards across their specific market with Central Nutrition guidance.

       Advise Local Brand / Marketing teams on local nutrition substantiation, claims support and communication considerations including translation to local language (where relevant).  Deploy Global Nutrition communication toolkit locally to uphold nutrition messages/claims  

  • Building nutrition capability within local teams through training, educational resources and scientific support.

  • Monitor local market changes in statutory and voluntary nutrition requirements and support development of mitigation actions and updates.

       Coordinate nutrition science inputs with internal and external experts or partners within defined scope and guidance.

       Support execution of local Health Care Professional programmes by preparing scientific content, evidence summaries and technical responses within agreed frameworks.

Innovation

  • Support Central Nutrition Team with local nutrition insights and nutrition claim transcreation.

  • Translate complex nutrition evidence into practical implications for products and portfolio in local market executions.

  • Monitor local nutrition trends, consumer concerns, competitor activities and emerging scientific topics and feeding insights back into the global nutrition team.

Communication

  • Act as a local nutrition business partner within multidisciplinary teams across R&D, Marketing, Legal, Corporate Affairs and Communications.

  • Clearly explain nutrition evidence, tradeoffs and implications to nonnutrition stakeholders internally and externally within their market.

  • Support execution of Health Care Professional programmes by preparing scientific content, evidence summaries and technical responses within agreed frameworks.

  • Lead content development for the Flora Health and Nutrition Hub and support brand nutrition communications in online channels

Requirements

Experience / Competencies

Functional/ technical competencies:

  • Practical experience in applied nutrition science or related areas.

  • Strong capability in nutrition data analysis, standards application and portfolio benchmarking.

  • Working knowledge of US and Canadian nutrition labelling, health and nutrition claims context and regulatory drivers.

  • Previous experience in nutrition science, medical affairs or regulatory affairs within an FMCG environment would be ideal.

  • Proven practical ability to engage with Health Care Professionals or expert partners in a supporting role, translating nutrition evidence into clear, credible messages under central team guidance.

  • Strong communicator, able to tailor messages to relevant audience, translating complex nutrition science into easy to understand, consumer friendly ways.

  • Plant-based or dairy industry experience and/or nutrition marketing experience a plus

Qualifications / Education

  • Either a PhD or Master's degree in Nutrition, Registered Dietitian or Higher qualification in a related Nutrition field.

  • At least 7-10 years' experience in scientific, clinical or applied nutrition roles ideally working within a FMCG environment.

Knowledge

  • Advanced understanding of nutrition science, US and Canadian dietary guidelines, public health nutrition programs and nutrition scoring approaches.

  • A passion for communicating established and emerging credible nutrition science, especially dietary fats and culinary nutrition topics.

Travel Requirements

Occasional.
