Job Overview:-

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide technical leadership, advisory support, operational expertise, and project delivery assistance for critical enterprise network infrastructure and data center initiatives.

The engineer will serve as a trusted technical liaison between the client, internal infrastructure teams, and contracted third-party partners supporting ongoing routing improvements and deployments for the FAC/HPC Data Center in Santa Clara.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Cisco routing and switching, data center networking, Palo Alto firewalls, LAN/WAN architecture, and advanced network troubleshooting. Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Routing & Data Center Infrastructure

  • Provide technical expertise for network assessment, discovery, design, and routing improvement initiatives.
  • Support routing architecture enhancements and data center network deployments.
  • Review and validate network assessments, designs, recommendations, implementation plans, and technical deliverables from third-party partners.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, technical reviews, design validation, and implementation planning.
  • Ensure proposed solutions meet scalability, resiliency, performance, security, and operational requirements.
  • Support planning and execution of routing improvements across enterprise and data center environments.

Network Operations & Troubleshooting

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for complex network incidents and connectivity issues.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for routing, switching, LAN/WAN, and firewall challenges.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop remediation plans for network outages and performance issues.
  • Evaluate existing network environments and identify opportunities for optimization and modernization.
  • Provide technical recommendations related to network architecture and infrastructure strategy.
  • Coordinate with networking, security, infrastructure, and operations teams.

Project & Technical Advisory Support

  • Act as a technical liaison between the client and third-party/contracted engineering teams.
  • Support network infrastructure projects from requirements gathering through implementation and operational readiness.
  • Participate in risk assessments, solution development, technical design reviews, migration planning, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Review technical solutions to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and industry best practices.
  • Assist in evaluating new networking technologies and infrastructure improvements.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

  • Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including:
    • Network diagrams
    • Logical and physical topology maps
    • Technical design documents
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Configuration standards
    • Operational runbooks
  • Ensure documentation reflects current production environments and architectural changes.
  • Provide knowledge transfer, technical guidance, and mentoring to engineering and operations teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience as a Senior Network Engineer in enterprise environments.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
