Job Description: This role supports Consumer Real Estate Credit Risk within Enterprise Credit Risk, providing independent oversight and credit risk challenge across first lien mortgage and home equity products. The position requires strong consumer real estate expertise, analytical judgment, and the ability to assess portfolio trends, policy changes, exceptions, servicing activities, and emerging risks against approved risk appetite and governance expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent credit risk oversight for consumer real estate products, including first mortgage and home equity, with focus on policy execution, credit exceptions, originations, servicing or portfolio risk, and emerging risk identification.
  • Assess business-proposed credit policy changes, policy expansion requests, exceptions strategies, and emerging credit issues by combining underwriting expertise, data-driven analysis, sound risk judgment, and effective challenge.
  • Perform complex portfolio, policy, exception, and risk analyses using large datasets to identify trends, approval patterns, emerging risks, credit performance concerns, and potential policy gaps.
  • Support oversight of servicing, collateral valuation, and exceptions.
  • Partner with business, risk, product, operations, policy, compliance, and technology stakeholders to translate insights into risk mitigation strategies, governance actions, and policy enhancements.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of financial services experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in credit risk for home loans or other consumer products.
  • Understanding of mortgage and home equity credit policy, underwriting standards, risk governance, regulatory expectations, and risk appetite frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets, assess portfolio and exception performance, identify emerging risks, and develop data-supported recommendations.
  • Ability to independently evaluate proposed credit changes, challenge assumptions, and communicate risk perspectives effectively to senior stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience supporting risk transformation, analytics, AI/Copilot enablement, or process automation initiatives is a plus.
  • Experience with collateral valuation, servicing or home equity underwriting is a plus.
