Job Title

Senior Manager, Project Controls (Planning)

Job Description Summary

This senior level role will act as the face of the company responsible for the client relationship with regards to planning. Will make an immediate impact at a client by working with key stakeholders to develop high-level strategic schedules and resource plans to support the client through the early phases of the project lifecycle to closeout. Will work with the project cost lead and project controls manager to develop a plan for the long-term support of the project including building, managing and reporting on the schedule. Must have exceptional organizational, analytical and problem-solving. Must have the ability to lead a team and/or mentor less experienced team members.

Job Description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules aligned with program and project objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to project stakeholders by providing schedule management expertise, planning guidance, and recommendations to support successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate and integrate Owner, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and third-party schedules into a comprehensive master schedule.
  • Facilitate planning sessions, schedule reviews, and collaborative workshops with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Prepare baseline schedules, schedule narratives, progress updates, recovery schedules, and what-if analyses.
  • Analyze critical path and near-critical path activities and communicate schedule impacts, risks, and opportunities to project teams.
  • Monitor schedule performance, identify deviations and variances, and support the development of mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Develop and maintain schedule reporting metrics, dashboards, milestone tracking, and executive-level reporting.
  • Provide regular schedule progress reports, trend analyses, and forecast updates to project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain records of scope changes, schedule assumptions, trends, risks, and variances that may impact project execution.
  • Perform schedule quality reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and credibility of project schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with project controls, engineering, procurement, construction, and client teams to ensure schedule alignment across all project phases.
  • Support schedule risk assessments and contribute to proactive risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior schedulers and project controls team members.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling processes, tools, and best practices.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project planning, scheduling, project controls, or construction project management supporting capital projects through design and construction phases.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing integrated project schedules for large-scale capital construction projects.
  • Experience working within complex, cross-functional, matrixed project environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Construction industry experience required; life sciences, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, data center, or pharmaceutical project experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage project teams, clients, and leadership stakeholders.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate's experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
