Senior AEM Developer

Location: Dearborn, MI
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 4 days onsite / 1 day remote

Position Overview

Ford Motor Company is seeking a skilled AEM Developer to design, develop, and maintain modern digital experiences using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience across the AEM stack, including component and template development, workflows, DAM, Java, Sling, OSGi, and modern frontend technologies.

You will collaborate with architects, UX/UI designers, product managers, QA engineers, and other development teams to deliver scalable, secure, high-performing applications supporting Ford''s global digital ecosystem.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on AEM development experience.
  • Strong experience developing and maintaining AEM components, templates, workflows, and DAM.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Apache Sling, and OSGi within an AEM environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with at least one modern frontend framework such as React or Angular.
  • Experience with AEM Author, Publish, and Dispatcher environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS).
  • Experience with Blueprints, Live Copies, Rollout Configurations, and Multi Site Manager (MSM).
  • Experience with Content Fragments and modern AEM content architecture.
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with REST APIs, microservices, or service-oriented architectures.
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, indexing, and search relevance.
  • Adobe AEM certification(s).
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Agentic AI solutions.
  • Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and AI-based search models.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable AEM components, templates, workflows, and content fragments.
  • Develop and manage Digital Asset Management (DAM) repositories, metadata schemas, folder structures, and asset governance.
  • Support AEM Authoring, Publishing, and Dispatcher configurations.
  • Configure and maintain Blueprints, Live Copies, and Rollout Configurations for multi-site environments.
  • Build responsive, high-performance frontend experiences using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, or Angular.
  • Develop backend services and integrations using Java, Sling, and OSGi.
  • Develop REST/API integrations with third-party systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, indexing failures, data synchronization issues, and search relevance problems.
  • Support and improve CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain clean, scalable, well-tested code.
  • Collaborate with architects, UX/UI designers, business analysts, product managers, and QA teams.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
  • Maintain technical documentation and specifications.
  • Apply best practices for security, accessibility, performance, and scalability.
Onsite Requirement

This is NOT a fully remote position.

The selected candidate must be located in or near the Metro Detroit area and be able to work onsite in Dearborn, MI four days per week, with one day working remotely. Candidates must be able to begin commuting to the Dearborn office by the start date.
