Messaging And Collaboration Engineer

Enpro is seeking a Messaging and Collaboration Engineer responsible for the design, administration, and continuous improvement of the organization's Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration ecosystem. This role provides enterprise-level support for Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and related communication services while ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable collaboration capabilities across the global organization.

The role also supports the enablement and governance of AI-powered productivity capabilities including Microsoft 365 Copilot. The engineer will ensure that messaging and collaboration platforms are properly configured, secured, and governed to support responsible AI adoption.

This position partners closely with Infrastructure, Security, Identity, Endpoint Management, and Business IT teams to ensure messaging and collaboration platforms align with enterprise architecture, security requirements, and business objectives.

What You'll Do:

Messaging and Collaboration Platform Administration

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 collaboration services including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
  • Manage mail flow configuration including connectors, transport rules, authentication, and integration with identity and security platforms.
  • Monitor platform health, service availability, and performance across messaging and collaboration services.
  • Troubleshoot complex messaging, collaboration, and client connectivity issues.
  • Manage platform upgrades, configuration changes, and feature deployments within Microsoft 365.

Messaging Security and Compliance

  • Implement and manage messaging security technologies including anti-phishing, anti-malware, encryption, and threat protection.
  • Maintain email authentication standards including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
  • Support compliance capabilities including retention policies, audit logging, and eDiscovery.

Microsoft Purview Data Governance

  • Support implementation and management of Microsoft Purview capabilities including sensitivity labels, data classification, and data lifecycle policies.
  • Assist in configuring retention policies, data loss prevention (DLP) controls, and information protection policies across collaboration platforms.
  • Work with Security and Compliance teams to ensure collaboration services align with enterprise data governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Support governance initiatives that ensure responsible data access for AI-enabled tools including Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Collaboration Governance

  • Support governance and lifecycle management of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and collaboration workspaces.
  • Manage policies related to external sharing, collaboration access controls, and workspace provisioning.
  • Assist business teams with collaboration platform integrations and adoption of enterprise collaboration tools.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Administration

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 Copilot capabilities across Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Configure Copilot settings, policies, and tenant configurations to align with organizational governance and security standards.
  • Support Copilot readiness initiatives including collaboration data governance, permission reviews, and platform configuration.
  • Monitor Copilot service health and troubleshoot issues related to AI-enabled collaboration features.
  • Evaluate new Copilot capabilities and assess their operational impact across messaging and collaboration services.

Automation and Platform Efficiency

  • Develop PowerShell automation to streamline administration of Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration platforms.
  • Leverage Microsoft Graph and automation frameworks to improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
  • Identify opportunities to improve platform operations through automation and AI-assisted administration.

Mergers, Acquisitions, and Divestitures

  • Support messaging and collaboration integration activities during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Assist with tenant-to-tenant migrations, domain consolidations, and cross-tenant collaboration integrations.
  • Support divestiture initiatives including tenant separation and secure data migration.
  • Work with project teams to minimize disruption to communication services during integration events.

Incident Response and Operational Support

  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex messaging and collaboration incidents.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring service issues.
  • Participate in operational reviews and continuous service improvement initiatives.

What You'll Bring:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience administering enterprise messaging or collaboration platforms.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online.
  • Strong understanding of email protocols and infrastructure including SMTP, DNS, MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
  • Experience supporting enterprise collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams or SharePoint.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • PowerShell scripting and Microsoft Graph automation experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 Copilot or other AI-enabled productivity platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview governance and compliance capabilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
  • Microsoft 365 or Exchange related certifications.
  • Proofpoint experience or similar secure email gateway solutions.
