Job Description

Visa's Post Purchase organization is building AI-driven decision intelligence across dispute resolution and recovery products, including RDR, CDRN, VDRN, and Recover. We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to contribute to high-impact machine learning initiatives that improve automation, recovery outcomes, and client experience at global scale.

This is a Senior-level individual contributor role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, owns complex problem spaces, and drives solutions from concept through production with measurable business impact. You will work with large-scale transactions and dispute data to develop models that enhance decision quality and enable scalable, intelligent systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support machine learning and analytics initiatives across dispute decisioning, merchant matching, and recovery analysis

  • Assist in the development of ML lifecycle components, including data preparation, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation
  • Analyze large-scale transaction and dispute datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data Engineering teams to translate business requirements into analytical solutions
  • Contribute to model performance tracking, validation, and reporting
  • Support experimentation efforts by helping design, execute, and analyze tests
  • Assist in documenting models, methodologies, and results to support transparency and adoption
  • Stay current on emerging tools and techniques, including AI/ML and GenAI, and apply them where appropriate

    Basic Qualifications

    • 2+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree, OR
    • 5+ years of relevant work experience
    • Master's graduates must have 2+ years of relevant work experience to qualify
    • Exposure to data science, analytics, or machine learning concepts

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
    • Experience applying data analysis or entry-level ML techniques to business problems
    • Proficiency in Python or R, and SQL for data analysis
    • Familiarity with data processing tools or frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hive)
    • Understanding of basic machine learning concepts and evaluation methods
    • Exposure to experimentation or A/B testing methodologies is a plus
    • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional environments
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

    The estimated salary range for this positionis $123,700.00 to $ 191,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
