Job description

ABOUT YOU
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Strategic Marketing to serve as the dedicated marketing partner for our Advanced Manufacturing & Life Sciences line of business, headquartered in Raleigh, NC. This is a high-impact, highly visible role that sits at the intersection of marketing strategy, business development, and capital project intelligence. The ideal candidate brings deep fluency in the engineering and construction (E&C) industry, a working knowledge of capital project execution, and the ability to build and execute marketing programs that resonate with sophisticated industrial clients - both domestically and internationally.
This role demands someone who can operate at speed, manage complexity without losing precision, and take full ownership of outcomes that matter to the growth of the business. As ARCO's footprint in advanced manufacturing grows, this role will evolve with it - with the expectation that the right candidate will help identify and activate new market verticals as opportunities emerge.
This is not a role for someone who punches the clock and checks the box. We are looking for a marketing professional who finds a way, brings energy and precision to everything they touch, and holds themselves accountable to outcomes - not just activity. Above all, we are looking for someone who brings the full package - strategic horsepower, executional discipline, and the personal character to be the kind of marketing partner our leaders genuinely want in their corner.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
ARCO Design/Build is a national leader in design-build engineering and construction, delivering integrated project solutions for the world's most demanding industrial and manufacturing environments. Our Advanced Manufacturing & Life Sciences line of business serves clients across pharmaceuticals, biotech, advanced materials, metals, automotive, clean energy, aerospace and defense, and next-generation manufacturing - with a portfolio of target markets that continues to expand as U.S. industrial investment evolves.
This position represents a unique opportunity to shape the marketing strategy of one of the fastest-growing lines of business at a nationally recognized design-build firm - at a moment when advanced manufacturing investment in the U.S. is accelerating dramatically. You'll work alongside a highly experienced leadership team, have direct visibility with senior executives, and play a meaningful role in ARCO's national growth story.
If you are someone who is wired to grow - who sees every project, every pursuit, and every market as an opportunity to learn something and raise the bar - this role was built for you.
We are dedicated to the well-being of our associates and are proud to be consistently recognized as a Best Place to Work. Our compensation and benefits package not only supports our associates and their families but benefits local communities and communities around the world.
  • Industry-leading performance-based bonus program
  • Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP)
  • Traditional and Roth 401k
  • Tuition reimbursement for associates
  • Scholarship for associates' children up to $28,000 per child
  • 1-month paid sabbatical after every five years of employment, plus $5,000 for travel
  • 15 business days of PTO+8 paid holidays+1 floating day
  • 1-week paid volunteer leave each year
  • Family Planning support
  • 12 weeks of paid Maternity leave
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage

At ARCO, our first core value is to treat people fairly and do the right thing. We are committed to building and sustaining a culture that supports diversity and inclusion. We are proud to be a drug-free workplace and an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment.
From recruiting, training, and hiring practices to selecting our subcontractors, we understand that diversity of all those involved in the construction process enhances our ability to deliver the best solutions to our customers. We hire the best and the brightest from across the country - constructing a team of experts in architecture, design, engineering, project management, and business services.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
Campaign Strategy & ROI Ownership
  • Design, execute, and manage integrated marketing campaigns across digital, content, events, and direct channels - scoped to budget and driven by measurable outcomes
  • Own campaign performance from planning through reporting, with clear accountability for pipeline contribution, lead generation, and ROI delivered to the business
  • Manage marketing budgets with discipline and precision, making smart tradeoffs to maximize return while staying on target
  • Build and maintain reporting frameworks that give leadership clear, honest visibility into what is working and where to invest

Line of Business Marketing
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies aligned to the growth objectives of the Advanced Manufacturing & Life Sciences line of business nationally
  • Create compelling positioning, messaging, and content that speaks to the capital project decision-making process - from site selection and feasibility through design-build delivery
  • Support business development with account-based marketing programs targeting key verticals including pharmaceuticals, biotech, metals, advanced materials, automotive, clean energy, and aerospace and defense manufacturing - with the flexibility and curiosity to develop programs in adjacent markets as the line of business scales
  • Build and execute international marketing programs targeting foreign companies evaluating U.S. manufacturing investment, partnering closely with ADB's FDI practice

Project Promotion & Jobsite Marketing
  • Attend project kickoff meetings and engage directly with project teams to understand the scope, complexity, and differentiating elements of what ARCO is building
  • Extract the story from every project - identifying the technical achievements, delivery innovations, schedule wins, and client outcomes that set ARCO apart - and translate them into compelling market-facing content
  • Develop and execute jobsite marketing programs that create visibility and brand credibility at the point of construction, including signage, photography, video, digital content, and milestone activations
  • Build a disciplined cadence of project promotion across owned, earned, and paid channels - ensuring that ARCO's executed work actively feeds the business development pipeline
  • Partner with project managers, operations leaders, and clients to capture content in a way that is accurate, on-brand, and respectful of confidentiality requirements
  • Treat every project as a proof point - connecting what we build to the markets we are targeting and the clients we want to win

Thought Leadership & Brand Credibility
  • Lead thought leadership content development - white papers, case studies, technical articles, event presentations, and digital campaigns - that establish ARCO as the design-build partner of choice in advanced manufacturing
  • Stay consistently attuned to industry trends across the verticals we serve and proactively bring creative, market-relevant ideas that connect with decision-makers in new and differentiated ways
  • Build ARCO's credibility, trust, and confidence with prospects, clients, and industry influencers in the advanced manufacturing and life sciences space - treating brand reputation as a long-term asset, not a campaign output

Collaboration & Stakeholder Partnership
  • Collaborate closely with BD leaders, sellers, and seller-doers to develop pursuit materials, capability statements, and proposal content tailored to specific verticals and regions to support our Strategic Pursuits team.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with associates and executive leaders alike - including the ability to manage up effectively, bring well-reasoned recommendations, and navigate competing priorities with professionalism
  • Build credibility with internal leaders by consistently delivering quality work, following through on commitments, and demonstrating a clear connection between marketing activity and business results
  • Serve as an active contributor on strategic pursuits - bringing marketing firepower to high-value opportunities and functioning as a true team member alongside BD, pursuits, and operations leaders when the stakes are highest
  • Support trade show strategy, industry event participation, and sponsorship planning across domestic and international venues
  • Partner with ARCO's corporate marketing and communications team to ensure brand consistency while adapting messaging for technical, sophisticated audiences

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience & Industry Knowledge
  • 8+ years of marketing experience, with a meaningful portion in the engineering, construction, or industrial/manufacturing sectors
  • Working knowledge of capital project execution - including design-build, EPCM, or comparable delivery models - and the ability to communicate credibly about project lifecycle, cost, and schedule
  • Experience marketing to or within industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotech, metals, advanced materials, automotive, clean energy, or aerospace and defense - with an appetite for learning and activating new verticals as business priorities shift
  • International marketing experience, including targeting foreign companies, navigating cultural nuance, and supporting FDI-related business development
  • Proven ability to develop high-quality technical content and thought leadership that drives engagement with senior-level industrial and real estate decision-makers
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred), marketing automation tools, and digital marketing channels
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed

How You Show Up
  • You have a winner's mentality - you find a way, and you consistently deliver what's expected plus one
  • You bring a high level of vigor to your work - you are energized by complexity, not slowed by it, and you operate with a sense of urgency that matches the pace of the business
  • You have a rare ability to absorb complex execution models, delivery structures, and technical project dynamics - and translate them into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with prospects and clients who may not speak the language of construction
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities shift, timelines compress, and the bar for quality stays high, regardless
  • You demonstrate extreme ownership - when a milestone is on the line, you do not wait to be managed, you find a way to hit it
  • You understand what a needle-mover pursuit looks like, and you treat strategic opportunities with the focus and intentionality they deserve - prioritizing your energy accordingly and showing up as a true partner to the BD and pursuits team
  • You hold yourself to a high standard of precision and attention to detail, understanding that in a credibility-driven industry, quality is non-negotiable
  • You are a clear, confident communicator - with peers, with BD teams, and with senior executives
  • You proactively manage up, bringing solutions and context rather than waiting to be directed
  • You are genuinely curious about the industries you support and stay ahead of trends, bringing fresh thinking that keeps ARCO relevant and differentiated
  • You care deeply about business performance and understand that marketing exists to drive it
  • You are comfortable in the field - you show up to kickoffs, ask smart questions, and know how to pull the signal out of a complex project and turn it into something the market can understand and act on
  • You are positive, upbeat, and genuinely enjoyable to work with - you bring energy to the room, not just output, and you understand that culture and chemistry matter in a high-performance environment
  • You know how to have fun in the work - celebrating wins, finding levity in the grind, and keeping the team around you motivated even when the pace is relentless
  • When stakes are high and pressure is real, you are the calm in the room - composed, focused, and steady in a way that gives leaders confidence and keeps pursuits and campaigns on track
  • You show up as a true business partner to line of business leadership - not a vendor, not a support function, but a trusted peer who is invested in the outcome and dependable when it counts most
  • You hold yourself to a high standard - not because someone is watching, but because that is simply who you are and how you operate
  • You are consistently seeking opportunities to expand your skill set, deepen your understanding of the industries and business issues you support, and sharpen your craft as a marketing professional
  • You are never satisfied with where the playbook is today - you are always looking for ways to level it up, and you bring those around you along in the process
  • You make the people and the work around you better - not by mandate, but by example
