About the Position


We are seeking a self-motivated Senior Project Manager to join our Jacksonville, Florida or Savannah, Georgia groups to lead projects on our growing Transportation team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in pursuing and successfully delivering transportation projects, along with strong leadership skills and a solid work ethic. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of our Transportation practice and directly impact on the growth and success of our transportation services in the region.


This position can be located out of our Jacksonville, FL or Savannah, GA offices, OR highly qualified candidates could be remote in the northern half of Florida or in the Coastal Georgia region.


What you’ll do:


  • Manage both the operations and business development for our roadway practice in Florida, while working collaboratively with the broader Transportation team to achieve overall goals
  • Lead project pursuits in collaboration with the Transportation team, Pond leadership, and our Marketing team
  • Have Go/No-Go authority on pursuits for operations in conjunction with the Marketing team and assess the need for strategic hires to better position the team during the pursuit phase
  • Engage actively with state DOTs and other clients to assess and align service offerings, ultimately positioning Pond as a leader in transportation design services
  • Oversee day-to-day activities and manage resource allocation, staffing, and project budgets for the Florida/Georgia Transportation practice
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Design Teams to ensure that resources are used effectively to meet current and future needs
  • Review and approve new hires for the team and take responsibility for the training, mentoring, and professional development of direct reports
  • Serve as Senior Design Manager or Senior Project Manager as needed to win new opportunities, achieve technical results, and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Oversee and actively manage the Quality Assurance Program for the roadway practice, while contributing to branding Pond as an industry-recognized technical expert in transportation design services

Experience and Qualifications


  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
  • 15 - 20 years of transportation/roadway and drainage design experience is preferred
  • Professional Engineer, P.E. certification is required
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, practices and techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational, project, and time management skills
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high-quality work
  • Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally
