Job description

Job Summary:
MDAEdge is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency at Schriever AFB in Colorado Springs, CO. The role involves managing Linux servers, applying security measures, and providing technical guidance while ensuring compliance with DoD policies.
Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS) in physical and virtual environments (VMware, RHV, Azure).
• Apply security hardening based on DISA STIGs, NIST, and DoD policies.
• Perform patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations.
• Create and maintain documentation, SOPs, and diagrams.
• Configure and maintain cybersecurity tools such as ArcSight, Elastic, ACAS, and Trellix EPP.
• Troubleshoot technical and integration issues with security tools.
• Develop scripts and automation using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
• Collaborate with security analysts on incident investigations.
• Support security audits and ensure DoD compliance.
• Develop and enforce security policies and procedures.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 14+ years of IT experience (reduced with advanced degree).
• 6+ years of Linux server management experience.
• Experience with system hardening and Linux security best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible or Puppet.
• Experience with VMware, KVM, or RHV virtualization.
• Willingness to work during after-hours maintenance windows.
• Current IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE).
• Current Linux certification (RHCSA, RHCE, or LPIC).
• Ability to maintain a restricted badge and work on-site 4+ days per week.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred:
• Experience with ArcSight, Elastic, ACAS, or Trellix EPP.
• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, or Perl scripting.
• Familiarity with MDA or BMDS programs.
