What is a senior legal operations professional?

Senior Legal Operations professionals are experienced specialists who oversee and optimize the business and administrative aspects of a legal department. They focus on streamlining processes, managing budgets, implementing legal technology, and improving overall efficiency. Their role often includes project management, vendor management, data analysis, and supporting legal teams in delivering high-quality services. By doing so, they help legal departments function more effectively and align with organizational goals.

How does a senior legal operations professional typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Senior Legal Operations professionals regularly partner with departments such as IT, Finance, Procurement, and HR to streamline processes and ensure that legal services are delivered efficiently. This role often involves cross-functional meetings to align legal technology initiatives, manage budgets, oversee vendor contracts, and support compliance efforts. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and change management skills help drive team effectiveness and foster cross-department collaboration. These abilities ensure efficient legal service delivery, cost control, and the successful alignment of legal operations with organizational goals.

  • Advise HR and business leaders on day-to-day employment matters across a multi-state, unionized and non-unionized workforce
  • Manage employment litigation, agency charges, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including oversight of outside counsel
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, severance agreements, separation agreements, and HR-related policies

  • Healthcare industry experience a plus, particularly in long-term care, pharmacy, or a highly regulated sector
  • Experience managing employment litigation and agency proceedings
  • Labor relations experience, including collective bargaining and NLRB matters, is a plus given Omnicare's workforce profile
