Job description

General Summary

The Sr. Key Account Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire major departments store business for the Betsey Johnson wholesale footwear division while maintaining a profitable relationship between the customer and company. This position supports the Wholesale Footwear business. The responsibilities described below are considered essential functions of the role. This position is based in our LIC office and requires working on-site 4 days per week (work from home on Friday!)

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, document, and analyze weekly selling performance
  • Communicate with accounts, sale reps and vendors to maintain excellent customer relations.
  • Review business opportunities with buyers
  • Track advertising, review layouts and confirm delivery of product
  • Attend sales meeting and shoe shows
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with support and resources as needed
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
  • Travel required to market appointments and trade shows multiple times a year

Account Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for major wholesale customers
  • Maintain customer purchase orders and oversee order execution
  • Track customer sales performance and receipt plans
  • Prepare market and management presentation decks outlining key sellers, trends, and overall business performance
  • Support end of quarter processes, including BOM liability monitoring and documentation
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Design, Production, Sales Representatives, Marketing, and Dillard's VMI team to ensure seamless account support
  • Communicate sales trends, inventory positions, and selling opportunities across teams
  • Pull and consolidate sales data for weekly and monthly management reporting

Sales & Selling Support

  • Pull and analyze selling data from customer portals
  • Lead weekly sales calls with Sales and Design to review key styles, top sellers, and slow movers
  • Update selling trackers weekly with topline numbers
  • Analyze stock-to-sales performance by door
  • Send ATS to buyers and sales reps for fill in opportunities

Promotions & Markdowns

  • Select styles for customer promotional events and markdowns
  • Calculate markdown costs and assess financial impact
  • Advise accounts on markdowns

MAP Policy Management

  • Coordinate MAP changes and additions with legal team
  • Distribute updated MAP lists to customers and sales reps

Replenishment & Inventory Planning

  • Maintain weekly replenishment trackers with customer service
  • Develop bulk replenishment projections by account
    • Macys will send their own projections
    • Project out inventory needed for Dillards
    • Build projections for Von Maur, and Belk into general stock
  • Collaborate with planning and buying teams to place appropriate inventory buys
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with support and resources as needed
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

  • Ability to conduct interpersonal interactions including coaching, negotiating, selling, group presentations, etc.
  • Most decisions are made within company policy constraints, and some latitude exists. Decisions may impact others or the organization
  • Work responsibilities occasionally concern confidential and/or sensitive information requiring the use of discretion
  • Job duties are somewhat varied, occasionally requiring conceptualizing, planning and implementing
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and time management skills essential
  • Under limited supervision, anticipates and solves problems for self and other lower-level employees

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in retail buying
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have proficient knowledge of retail math
  • Department store experience required

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $120,000-$140,000. Ranges are based on various factors such as relevant skillset, training, years of experience related to the current job description, education, and our organizational structure.
