Senior IP Network Engineer
Onsite - Raleigh, NC
Overview
We are seeking a Senior IP Network Engineer to support the design, stability, and advancement of a large scale, highly available network environment. This role focuses on building and maintaining resilient infrastructure across data centers, wide area networks, and security layers, while improving automation and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and support modern data center network architectures, including VxLAN and EVPN based environments, while maintaining familiarity with traditional Layer 2 designs
  • Manage and enhance enterprise firewall infrastructure, including policy creation, segmentation, and threat prevention strategies
  • Architect and maintain routing across a backbone network, leveraging BGP and other dynamic routing protocols
  • Lead and contribute to network automation efforts, including provisioning, monitoring, and remediation workflows
  • Collaborate with cross functional engineering and operations teams to evaluate new technologies and drive continuous improvements
  • Participate in an on call rotation and support scheduled maintenance activities as needed
Required Experience
  • 10 or more years of hands on experience in service provider or large scale enterprise network environments
  • Strong expertise in data center networking, including VxLAN, EVPN, and leaf spine architectures
  • Deep knowledge of firewall technologies, including policy management and segmentation approaches
  • Solid routing background, including BGP, OSPF, and MPLS in production environments
  • Experience supporting multi vendor network platforms, including Cisco and Juniper technologies
  • Scripting or automation experience using tools such as Python, Ansible, or similar
  • Comfortable working within Linux based systems
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and independently lead technical initiatives
  • Strong communication skills across both technical and non technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with software defined networking or controller based architectures
  • Industry certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent
  • Exposure to emerging technologies or AI driven tooling within infrastructure environments
