The Sr. Manager, North America Planning and Supply Chain is an outstanding leadership role pivotal in driving End to End planning and supply chain operations across North America.

Our North America supply chain is centered around our Manufacturing hub in Lenexa, Kansas which is producing 3000 SKUs across Dehydrated Culture Media, Prepared Culture Media and Diagnostic kits (Antimicrobial Susceptibility testing) . You will be responsible for the demand planning across the region and then ensuring that the supply plan & production plans of our manufacturing units enable us to meet that demand as we grow the business. You will do this alongside leading our inbound and outbound supply chain and logistics

Thermo Fisher Scientific recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its microbiology business to Astorg, a leading pan-European private equity firm with deep expertise in healthcare, focused on a select set of subsectors, including pharmaceutical services and technology, medtech and related services, life science tools and diagnostics.

This decision follows a thoughtful evaluation as part of Thermo Fisher’s ongoing business strategy to actively manage and strengthen our portfolio.

We expect the transaction will be completed in the second half of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable regulatory approvals. Until the transaction is complete, Thermo Fisher will continue to operate the business.

If you join the microbiology business prior to the close of the transaction, your employment is expected to transition to Astorg.

 A day in the Life:

  • North America Supply Chain Leadership: Directs and manages all supply chain functions within North America, ensuring outstanding performance and efficiency. You will lead;
  • Demand Planning: Develops and implements accurate demand forecasts to optimize inventory levels and meet customer demand.
  • Supply Planning: Develop Supply Plans (RCCP, Mid Term Capacity Plans, Weekly Schedules, Production Plans) which direct production to make the right stock at the right time
  • Sourcing & Purchasing: Leads strategic sourcing initiatives and manages supplier relationships to ensure efficient procurement of materials and services.
  • Materials Planning: Coordinates inventory control, production planning, and material flow to ensure timely availability of materials for production and fulfilment.
  • Distribution: Coordinates warehouse operations, logistics, and transportation to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of products to customers.
  • Financial Performance: Manages the supply chain budget, monitors critical metrics, and finds opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with Production & Quality to ensure seamless production then with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Finance to ensure we are making the right stock to grow the business
  • Team Leadership & Development: Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing supply chain team.
  • Compliance: Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Drives Microbiology Division Growth: Ensures a reliable supply chain, supporting $300M in North American revenue and $700M globally.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of demand planning, supply planning, materials planning, order management, and distribution processes.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing manufacturing / production planning and MRP processes.
  • Experience building weekly production plans and working with X functional partners to ensure delivery
  • Strong SAP capability, with practical understanding of how planning master data, order book, inventory, and production execution interact.
  • Extensive experience with S&OP and demonstrated ability to drive process improvement.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in the life sciences or related industry is preferred.
  • APICS certification (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) is a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires min of 3 days a week on site in an office environment
  • May require occasional travel.
