Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fading West Senior Inventory Buyer will manage a team responsible for maintaining and developing partnerships with key suppliers. The Senior Inventory Buyer will ensure the right level of inventory is maintained to keep the factory fed, while using LEAN principles to minimize the amount of inventory on hand. The Senior Inventory Buyer will work closely with the Production Managers and the Engineering Manager to develop and manage an approved material list and an approved vendor list to ensure quality materials and backup suppliers to reduce risk of lack of supply of materials.

Responsibilities

? Contribute to product development giving input on available/suitable materials

? Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.

? Manage supply chain and logistics strategy, including just in time deliveries and back up suppliers.

? Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, controlling inventory, warehousing, and receiving

? Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality

? Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.

? Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.

? Manage and empower a small team of material handlers lead by a Receiving manager to keep track of logistics and maintain inventory records

? Manager small team of buyers to complete all supply chain goals.

? Design, implement, or oversee product take back or reverse logistics programs to ensure products are recycled, reused, refunded or responsibly disposed.

? Forecast material costs develop standard cost lists.

? Material inventory management

? Running MRP

? Develop and build team of direct reports by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.

? Analyze operational performance and resolve issues and bottlenecks through LEAN techniques.

? Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure materials meet quality and safety standards

? Collaborate with company leads, factory support team, and factory leadership to continually determine best vendors and distributors.

? Write requests for bids and award supply contracts, while conducting price negotiations and comparison of service terms

? Coordinate delivery with the receiving manager against storage capacities.

? Managing budgets and payments.

? Ensure people, systems, processes, and measures are in place to adequately deliver to established goals.

? Using LEAN principles, implement and drive continuous improvement of quality and productivity.

? Work closely with sales, production management and engineering to anticipate supply chain needs

? Translate and align the department strategy to the company's vision and goals.

? Help implement and manage new ERP system (Accumatica) in coordination with other departments.

? Manage Receiving manager and small team of buyers to meet supply chain needs and goals.

? Other duties as assigned




Qualifications

? BA in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or similar relevant field

? Hands on experience with supply chain management software (such as SAP MM, AP Modules, SAP Plant Maintenance, etc.)

? Strong LEAN/six sigma manufacturing experience

? Strong ability to lead multiple teams across functions.

? Strong collaboration / communications skills.

? Forward thinking with strong interpersonal skills are a must.

? Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

? Experience working in the manufactured/modular home industry is a plus.
