Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our Cleared IT Support Team. This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing advanced IT infrastructure while leading technical initiatives to support organizational goals. The Senior Systems Administrator will collaborate with Senior Engineers, Network Administrators, security teams, and IT specialists to ensure the secure and efficient operation of multi-user computer networks, including WANs and standalone systems.


The ideal candidate will supplement the team in addressing technical challenges, implementing cutting-edge solutions, and driving process improvements. This position involves administering server and workstation infrastructure, networking environments, optimizing system performance, and ensuring compliance with security standards. This role will involve interactions with customer users both onsite and through a service desk and being a liaison for the team between higher level engineers and the service desk personnel.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration and optimization of Windows Server and Active Directory environments, including DNS, DHCP, and group policy configuration.
  • Oversee and maintain enterprise virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • IT support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft's core business applications and operating systems
  • Document new and existing Policies, Procedures, and Network Diagrams
  • Identify gaps and faults in existing process; implement new procedures to improve capabilities
  • Act as liaison between highly technical engineers and less technical tier 1 technicians
  • Create easy to follow knowledge base articles that solve complex technical problems
  • Train and mentor junior staff
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft products (Exchange, SharePoint, Windows, Windows Server, Active Directory, etc.)
  • Intermediate technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, switches, security, etc.
  • Able to quickly move between tasks to cover escalation and project needs
  • Communicates effectively with the clients, notifying them of impending changes, ticket progress, and agreed outages
  • Resolute dedication to unparalleled customer service

Requirements for Position

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in computer science or related degree OR at least five (5) years of IT or related experience. Special preference for senior systems administration support.
  • Top Secret/SCI with CI Polygraph
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016+ Administration Experience
  • Microsoft Active Directory Administration Experience
  • Microsoft Windows 10+ Administration
  • Some experience with Linux (Red Hat or others)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and a strong desire for personal and professional development
  • Ability to identify and evaluate trends in industry best practices and policies
  • Hands on experience with Network troubleshooting, Microsoft Domain Services (DNS, DHCP, etc.) troubleshooting, Microsoft Active Directory troubleshooting

Work Conditions


Work is typically performed in an office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. The person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. May occasionally need to position self to maintain computers, including under the desks and in the server closet. Infrequent requirements to rack/stack enterprise server/network equipment. The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
