Job description

We are seeking an Chief Platform Architect in our CO, MN, or UK locations.
As the Chief Platform Architect for the Quantum Software Developer Platform, you will act as the technical authority for the design Quantinuum's developer platform: access portals for quantum computers, hybrid work-flow orchestration, tooling access, documentation, and security. You will work with other leaders on hardware-software co-design efforts, ensuring our platform is scalable and enabling of our quantum processors. You will mentor senior engineers, ensure excellent coding standards, and help define and execute on the technical roadmap to translate business needs into robust, production-ready systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the design and specifications of a high-performance developer platform.
  • Refine quantum computer access API and web portal architecture for performance, scalability and multi-region operation
  • Transform web portal into an application development and delivery framework by leveraging cloud-based hybrid workflow engine and reusable quantum/classical application components
  • Define standard interfaces for hosting application components and building applications by both internal and external developers
  • Ensure the security and reliability of the platform as it scales up
  • Deliver customizable cloud-based hybrid applications to end users
  • Work across the business to help define and maintain the technology roadmap, translating business goals into technical requirements and evaluating new technologies.
  • Foster a culture of excellence by establishing best coding practices, performing architectural reviews, and mentoring senior software engineers.

YOU MUST HAVE:
  • 25+ years in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior architect or lead role, specifically within developer platforms.

WE VALUE:
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native solutions.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipeline design, developer portals (e.g., Backstage), and observability tools.
  • Demonstrated success in designing large-scale software systems
  • Proven ability to lead architectural work for large-scale projects and influence teams without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's or PhD preferred.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in the design and architecture of developer platforms
  • Experience in building platform engineering teams from the ground up.
  • Background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Record of publication or patents in quantum computing.

$240,000 - $300,000 a year
Incentive Eligible - Range posted is inclusive of bonus target when applicable

The pay range for this role is $240,000 - $300,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate's skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
