Job description

Job Title: Summer Physics Stockroom Assistant

Classification: Student Employee (non-exempt)

Length of Position: 20 or 30 hours a week for 10 weeks (seeking two or three workers)

Wage Range: $11.75-12.75/hour

Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): 

Assist the Physics Stockroom Technician with inventory and storeroom organization.  Opportunity to learn how to operate equipment in the physics shops. Selling and shipping items no longer needed. Assisting the Physics Technician with other projects/tasks as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Mechanical hands on light equipment  assembly / de-assembly (training available).
  • Room item counts and  inventory database and entering data.
  • Sell and ship packages using Ebay and other sources.
  • Assist staff with projects and tasks.


Transferable Skills: 

  • The ability to follow directions and work independently

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

  • Self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Knowledgeable with Ebay research. 
  • Computer skills including Excel and database programs.
  • Efficient in wrapping and shipping packages. 
  • General mechanical ability preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Dependable and punctual.
