Job description

Job Summary:

CJ Suppression is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Working Foreman to lead fire protection system installations across a variety of construction projects, including tenant improvements, new builds, underground piping, and retrofits. This is a full-time, field-based role in California requiring hands-on expertise and leadership in fire sprinkler system installation. Project areas include: LA county, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County

As a Foreman, you will oversee a small crew, ensure compliance with NFPA 13 standards, and maintain high-quality workmanship that directly impacts life safety. You will interpret blueprints and fire codes, coordinate with project managers and design teams, and adapt plans to meet job site conditions. You'll also mentor apprentices and enforce safety protocols in accordance with OSHA and company policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 13 standards and project specifications.
  • Follow all safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
  • Apply industry-standard practices and methods for fire protection system installation.
  • Work independently under limited supervision, ensuring timely and compliant execution.
  • Train and coach fire sprinkler apprentices, supporting skill development and safety awareness.
  • Attend safety, training, and educational meetings to stay current on regulations and resolve job site issues.
  • Perform work that consistently passes fire inspections and meets local requirements.
  • Lead a team of 1-3, ensuring productivity and quality control.
  • Travel to job sites using a company-provided vehicle, maintaining punctuality and professionalism.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports, etc.).
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, team members, and project managers.
  • Solve practical problems on-site and develop action plans to address challenges.
  • Inform and document the need for change orders.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of fire sprinkler installation experience required, focus on commercial and tenant improvement projects preferred.
  • Proven experience in commercial construction or tenant improvement fire protection systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 13 and applicable California fire codes.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and travel to various job sites as part of essential duties.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Valid California Fire Sprinkler Fitter Certification preferred.
  • Basic understanding of measurements, layout, and pipe fitting techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fire codes accurately.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed based on project demands.
